I am impressed that a young filmmaker straight out of film school: A) Had the good sense to pick a future classic song from a future iconic band and B) Was able to get the permission to do so.

The Doors were unique and Scorcese saw that. He married the apocalyptic vision of that song to the apocalypse going on in JR's mind about women and sex.

That whole Madonna/Whore dichotomy is so poisonously destructive.
