The Things of Life : Best opening sequence?

Best opening sequence?

Does anybody share my view that this film probably has one of the best opening sequences in movie history? I would only put the opening sequence in The Touch Of Evil (and possibly The Graduate) in the same league.

Re: Best opening sequence?

I agree, as soon as the piano piece came on I was hooked like no other.

Re: Best opening sequence?

Yes indeed. All shown backwards as I recall.
Excellent film.
The other scene I like best is the wedding lunch, set in a field, where he is eating through the meal until he sees people that shouldn't be there and realises there's something not quite right.

Re: Best opening sequence?

I agreethey're both terrific sequences.

Re: Best opening sequence?

I'm glad we can write a little about this wonderful film ; only five threads, that's not much

Re: Best opening sequence?

I just finished watching it and I couldn't agree with you more Fleurus!Five threads really do belittle this bittersweet little diamond of a film.I love french pessimism and french melancholy in french films.

Evan : If you liked "Les Choses de la Vie" then try "Csar et Rosalie"
Same director, same actress, different theme and a wonderful comedy, quite funny at times.
