The Lego Batman Movie : What makes people excited about this?

What makes people excited about this?

It baffles me that so many people are apparently convinced that this will actually be worth watching for anyone older than 8. I'm not saying that because it's a kids movie either. There are plenty of animated movies that have things that appeal to both kids and adults, but this doesn't look like one of them. For starters, the only reason the original Lego movie "worked" was because it subverted its ridiculous premise by revealing itself to be part of a kid's imagination.

What does this movie have going for it exactly? The Joker rubbing his butt on the Battmobile? The rap music? The same overused joke about Batman being an orphan, which was never funny to begin with? The fact that guy who wrote this: http://www.imdb.com/board/11611224/ is writing this movie?

I get that people are burned out by the recent live-action DC films, but how is this film supposed to be anything other than generic pandering fluff?

Edit: Oh geez: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Crb226ODyqQ&ebc=ANyPxKoXqbXQ7MGuRZhUEjgVtkOE69nxI_vJcchwl-EVx76o0qi9LKlt4Ow6LDG1pMHQIXv5rb__

So apparently this movie is taking a page out of Bruce Timm's book by having Batman hook up with Batgirl, because that's something we all wanted more of

Re: What makes people excited about this?

Its a spin off of The Lego Movie.
Lego Batman was hysterical in that.
So yeah the reason I want to see this is because its a sequel to one of the best animated films made in the last 10 years.

Have you ever noticed that the people who say "DC is for adults and Marvel is for kids", are kids?

Re: What makes people excited about this?

The people who wrote that movie have nothing to do with this one.
