The Ides of March : Am confused……

Forgive me but why didn't Marisa Tomei print the story about Ryan Gosling meeting Paul Giamatti or did she? If she did why didn't it affect Ryan Gosling's job?

Since Hoffman, who was the source for the article, got fired from the campaign and Gosling got reinstated, it'd be easy for the campaign to deny it now (plus Hoffman wouldn't stand by his leak now that he's off the team because he respects his employers wishes, unlike Gossling). But your question is valid. They could've clarified this.

She did print the story at the end of the movie when her and ryan gossling see each other she said your making me look bad I printed a story that your out, and you get announced as the new head of the campaign, I know paul giammatis character was kicking himself he should have taken stephen when he had the chance.

I didn't get why it was such a big deal that they met. If printed they could have said they were old friends.
