The Exorcist : So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

And if so where when you watched it?

It didn't scare me at all.
I actually find it more fascinating or entertaining to watch.
Maybe it would have been different had I seen it first on the big screen instead of TV?

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

No. I think this movie is crap tbf.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Yup. Scared me. I was a kid the first time I watched it. My grandma used to babysit me on Fridays and she watched horror movies every week on TV. I think it was called USA Up All-Night. I could have played in another room with my siblings, but I loved being with my Grandma and I got a thrill from being terrified.
The little girl’s face and the sound of her breathing in the movie-so scary.

And how should he answer the troll?

A) Well, at least she has a hobby now.

B) I always knew that bitch was a slut.

C) *Pointing at the possessed girl while saying to the other priest* That's what she said!

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Which version of it did you watch?

The original, which is harder to find these days, or the Director's Cut?

The horror is more psychological and subliminal…and perhaps more affective in an atmospheric setting.

But yea, it can be amusing…in that it's basically a story about a girl going thru puberty, getting her first period and going thru a bad case of acne and menstrual cramps.

Are you okay?

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

If you mean first time, that would be a censored one on network TV.

Since then I did watch it, prob. orig., on a cable movie channel.

I think I was numb to it because of those reasons and I was at home and it is super tame compared to the crap they come out with now.

Like there is no way I can sit through a whole Saw movie.
I have seen enough to be disgusted and change the channel.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

I agree with you about Saw and movies in that genre. I can't stomach them at all.

The Exorcist did scare me. Down to my bones. Saw it with my gf in a theater and when we came out it was dark. Absolutely terrifying. I was certain Regan was behind every corner on the way to the car and in every closet in my apartment. No, in my gf's apartment because there was no way I was going back to my apartment that night.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

I saw it at the Cinerama Theater in Seattle when it first came out. I was blown away by it… the horror stuff was so over-the-top it was unbelievable. Many people were getting up and walking out of the theater. Other people were audibly weeping and crying, I kid you not. I myself had to shut my eyes in a few parts. I mean, if there was ever a movie that ripped you a new one while watching it, then this was it.

I also remember some young guy down somewhere in the theater audience who was kind of a wag, and when this one particularly horrifying scene played out, he let out with "Lordy!" followed by some laughter. This kind of made me relax and brought me back to my senses, realizing that it was after all just a movie. Still, to this day, I've never cared to re-watch the film, and that song "Tubular Bells" featured in it still creeps me out after all these years.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Yes, it is a brilliantly conceived soundtrack.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

No it is not
Just repeats over and over and over again.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

No. Maybe it was scary in its day but Regan just looks like the neighborhoid meth whore to me.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Oh Good Grief!

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Yeah, It scared me but not too much.

I wasn't born yet when the Movie came out although I have seen a couple of videos on YOUTUBE taken back when it came out on people walking out of the Movie Theater early just completely scared and not even willing to go back in to watch it.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

AR, buddy.
You are always going on with posts about The Thing, Friday 13th and H.Ween.

Did those movies scare you at all when you first watched them?
Or what is the scare factor for you with those compared to The Exorcist?

To me those are more scary because they build up the suspense and use the jump scares where in comparison watching Ex is more like watching a documentary.

"Did those movies scare you at all when you first watched them?"

Nope

There are only 2 Movies that have really Really REALLY scared me and they are "ARACHNOPHOBIA" and "FATAL ATTRACTION".

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Hmmmm….
Interesting.
Not the answers I was expecting.

Thanx for replying!

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Yeah, No Problem!

Thank you for asking. :)

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

If you don't mind me asking you this question, What are the Scariest Movies that you have ever seen ?

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

The ones I mentioned to you when I first brought this up.

The scariest would be H.Ween 2.
I left the theatre and have not seen a horror movie in one since then.

I don't really care for horror but would watch out of curiosity to see what the fuss is all about.

I prefer the spoof ones like the Scary Movie series.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Your probably not going to believe me when I say this but the first Scary Movie that I ever saw was "ALIEN" and I was actually only 4 years old at the time (My Dad was a BIG Fan of both Science Fiction and Horror Movies and he wanted me to watch "ALIEN" which I did) and it actually did not scare me at all.

LOL, Not even the Chestbursting Scene.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

I never think of Alien as being a horror movie but I guess it is or horror/sci fi?

Yeah, that one I did see and stayed for it.
I had no idea how scary it was going to be.

As for The Thing, first time I was on the edge of my seat.
And now I am like, "Awesome!"

You must have some kind of immunity to it.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Scared? More like disturbed.
Having been raised a Catholic, and having just moved away from home in the early 70s, I was still working out issues of faith and belief in a god.
I saw this in a theater in the spring of 1974. It was difficult to watch.
As the years have gone by, and after several viewings, I find it to be an interesting and tragic story… nothing more.

You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

The first movie doesn't hold up for me. It scared me as a kid, but it's hard to take seriously now. Exorcist III stands the test of time better, IMO.

The 2016 TV series was top-notch. I highly recommend it.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

I watched it when I was 14 years old at home in my room. I was one of the first group of teenagers to have a TV set, vcr and a phone in my room.

The movie played on tv network on a Halloween night. Even though parts of the film were censored for tv, it still scared the **** out of me..I had never seen anything like it. Her face, the things she said, her projectile vomit and her voice, the screams of terror from her mom, her levitating, Reagan predicting the priests death before she completely turned and he peeing on herself.
The actual demon superimposed on her face.

It was just all too much. I was terrified for weeks afterwards. I was afraid Regan was hiding inside my closet or underneath my bed. Any dark corner of my home, garage and backyard was somewhere that thing was hiding ready to pounce!

When I became an adult, I saw things. I saw people who acted possessed. None of them levitated or head turned 360 but they did and live and looked inhuman somehow.

So, yeah possession really happens.

Bump it. Bump it good!

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

I think it is the only film I've seen that really did scare me.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

Nope. Saw it for the first time when I was well into my twenties and it didn't upset me at all because I knew in advance what I was going to see from what other people had told me about the movie.

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

The first time I saw any of it I was a little boy. I was changing channels and came upon the scene 🎬 where Regan was levitating above the bed. It scared the bell out of me!

I am now in my fifties and I STILL get goosebumps when I watch it. It is THE SCARIEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!

Re: So, did this movie scare the beejeebers outta you?

The subgenre of little demonic girls with long hair is just about the only type of horror that terrifies me. This and The Ring (Japanese original)
