Shemar Moore : this cat tries too hard

this cat tries too hard

i was watching the film The Brothers

"she maaad fine, doe"

did Shemar take lessons to talk like that for 90 minutes?

i'd watch more of his work if dude wasn't so contrived and corny.

Re: this cat tries too hard

LOL
I guess speaking slang isn't his thing.

LOL my hubby is part african american, raised by a "white" family and he's horrible with slang seriously, he'll try it, just to see what he sounds like and I laugh my butt off, it's too funny, he's whiter then I am.

Re: this cat tries too hard

HmmInteresting posts. I wonder if people are saying he trys to hard because they have some first hand knowledge of how he "really speaks". Or is it because they mistakenly believe how a person speaks is related to the color of one's skin and not one's up bringing and social circles.

I like, Shemar, am bi-racial and I have white friends that can speak slang like nobody's business. As a a matter of fact, one of my best friends comes from an upper middle class suburban white family and has always sounded a little street because of the people he has always been closest to.

Re: this cat tries too hard

Nope, it is just how "run_to_daylight" put it, he just came off as corny. Nothing to do with his color or social status, since everyone of every color and age speaks some form of slang (not just street lingo).

It has to do with a number of things; you can tell when an Actor isn't comfortable saying or doing something by how fake they sound or look. Especially if you are around people who just do things without thinking about it, it just comes naturally to them. So when it came to Shemar, he did in a way that you KNEW he was thinking about it, instead of just letting it out.

Basically that myth of "Anyone can rap" or "Rap is easy and takes no skill". Sure, people can try to rap, but a number of things go into doing it: Voice / Flow / Cleverness etc. I've heard rap by black Americas that are down right terrible, and I've heard some that "got the idea" but just couldn't flow.

SOooo overall things come down to Comfort Level and Understanding.
