Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

I had seen this show for years and had assumed that his disability was fake because almost all other "disabled" people are just actors using crutches or faking blindness. That and the fact that he doesn't seem to have any trouble getting around the sets. I love the fact that an actor with a disability can just be a regular person and not have the disability served up as plot points. Of course it helps that he is a talented actor too.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

Yeah, I always assumed his crutch was just part of his character. Then I was watching the episode of West Wing he was in, and listening to the commentary where they said that he was a double amputee. I never knew that, and I've been a fan of CSI since it came out.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

I believe there was an episode of CSI where he was seen putting on his artificial leg. i do not know what episode or season

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

His character talked about losing his legs in a car accident (thats what happened to him in real life). They only talk about what happened to him when it fits5b4 nicely into the story line.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

It was one of the early episodes - year one or two, I think. The first time he actually showed one of his artificial legs, he was making an 'adjustment' because his leg wasn't working correctly. If I remember right he was putting it back when Grissom entered the room, Robbins smacked the leg hard and it suddenly dropped like he had released a catch or something. Robbins made some comment about how it had a bug or glitch.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

It never dawned on me that he was a double leg amputee. Then I found out he was the recruiting officer on the desk at the academy in the Starship Troopers movie. Both his legs were missing, and I thought it was part of the movie. Great that they don't overplay the disability for CSI.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

It's great to see him portrayed as a highly skilled professional who happens to have a disability rather than the disability being the important factor of his character. R5b4emember it's not what you can't doit what you can do. He has proven that you can be a strong character in a highly successful tv show without having the disability being the focus of your storyline.

Re: Have they ever discussed his disability on the show?

the mobile infantry made him the man he is today!!!!

btw if you dont know he was in Starship troopers as the man with no legs
