Quarantine 2: Terminal : So now it's just another zombie flick?
Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
Well, without being spoiler-ish, let's say it's closer to a "28 Days Later" in terms of themes & plot than "Rec 2." But I don't consider "28 Days Later" "just another zombie flick," so I guess it depends on how you look at it. I really enjoyed it, but I also enjoyed "Rec 2."

Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
Indeed i don't like using the term "zombie" to any of these movies since I'm a huge fan of virus-films of this sort. I prefer the term "virus-flick" to describe movies that reminds people of zombies, such as 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Day of the Dead remake. Misleading title on the Day of the Dead since the people never die or act as zombies, they just mutate, just as the ones in 28 *** Later get some kind of rabies-like virus that makes them crazy and starts biting (NOT eating) punching and shuving in eyeballs on everyone. They hate everyone and everything. The important thing is, they're still alive!
Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
Yeah, too bad people mix the two so much.

Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
I guess I use the term "zombie flick" loosely but I wouldn't call REC 1 or REC 2 a zombie flick per se, even though they really had some of the makings of being one.
One of the things I think help get a movie to land the label "zombie flick" is when all the infected work collectively together. In REC 1/2 the "collective" mindset was actually part of the plot and they explained how it worked. In Quarantine I didn't really understand why they worked together if it was more of a mutated rabies virusit's the same kind of thing that also baffled me about 28 Days Later but I figured I would just go along with it.
In Romero's "Dead" series it was simply explained that the zombies lusted after warm meat as a primitive way of seeking food or restoration, which also would make sense why they didn't eat on each other.

I have to agree with sweet here. It's not as good as the 1st one, but it is decent enough.
Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
I also agree with sweet. Very disappointing, but kind of interesting to see how this franchise looks in non-POV. Go into it with low expectations.

Well, frankly, it wasn't thought provoking, and seemed to cop out in more than a few turns. I watched it twice, and I was high, but still, it seemed sub par.
Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
Sadly it's a sell out, bandwagon hopping, cheap and dreary immitation of it's originals. Really expected more and was looking forward to seeing what they'd done with the story from Quarantine knowing the POV angle had been dropped. Dissapointingly it is 'just another zombie flick' except one you'd find at the far end of cable tv on a sunday night. Run of the mill at best.
Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
huh? Rabies virus? Is that what the remakes are about?

Re: So now it's just another zombie flick?
Yeah in Q1, Angela & Scott saw that it was a manmade virus, different compared to the demonic presence in REC2. Q2 was okay but wasn't as good as the first. Quarantine was great and I loved REC 1 & 2.

The revolutionary person on the flight used a modified version of the bio-weapon 2-4-5 Trioxin, that had crossed over to rats and perhaps other species as well. As far as I know they still haven't been able to manufacture an effective antidote yet.

So now it's just another zombie flick?
For whoever sees it (without being too spoilerific) could you just clarify if it's just another zombie flick or if it actually tries to establish a story that's thought-provoking and entertaining like Rec2.
