Meet Bill : What just happned?

Why is a 40 year old man, a 15 year old boy, some 20 something year old skank, and her street walker friend smoking joints and having an orgy in a tent in the man's gay brother's backyard?

Because this movie wants to be absurd. It wants to be a satire on midlife crisis. Unfortunately it falls short of the mark to many times. There are enough funny scenes in this film to make it watchable (mostly Lerman's scenes), but this film is too off kilter for me.

I just want to make sure I understand why some people on here are saying this is a watchable movie. I actually read reviews and comments on this site before I spend my hard earned money on a movie. Tell me if I'm missing something in this movie.

He catches his wife cheating but he gets kicked out of the house and has to shave his body and look gay to get her back. Oh and she continues cheating on him openly while he's doing all this.

I thought that they are going to end up getting a divorce or something like that. The movie didn't make any clear indication Bill and Jess were reconciling. I do agree that there were plot holes in the movie, but believe me I've seen worse movies than that where I spent half the time figuring out what the heck was going on and spent the rest of the time catching up. If I knew a Bill type I would've told him to simply cut his losses and punched the news jerk out, but that's just me.

He did leave her in the end. After he had showed her that he could change to the person she wanted if she just had been honest with him, and made her realise it was her loss. That's when you see her crying to try to get him back, and he walks away because he now knows he can do better than her.

You got me. The plot of this movie was a complete mess.

Why haven't you people written comments? I wrote a 3/10 review, got outnumbered by 7/10, 8/10- "it's nice" and "in spite of what the critics say, it's good" comments. And I got slapped 6 of 16 helpful rating. There are some other users who've trashed it as well, but proportion is misleading comments, especially for fans of the cast.

I was beginning to think I was in a sad, small minority in thinking that this was the worst recent-release I've seen in the last 2 yrs. or so. It turns out that people will like it, which is fine, but if you hate as much as I did, leave a couple of paragraphs on the comment page to help out like-minded imbd-ers.

I completely agree zyxek. I personally really enjoyed 'Thank You For Smoking' which is the reason I watched this movie. What a huge let down. For a comedy I didn't laugh once. Horribly untrue to life acting and ridiculous scenarios.

I don't have time to write a review now as I am going to bed but I just wanted to come here to make sure someone else thought it was as bad as I did. I've agreed with your review also.

Bottom line: If you like good movies, don't watch this.

This movie tried.. but wasn't coherent somewhere between acting and directing it fell apart.. I'm not sure the kid.. could act and maybe, maybe alba was miss-cast.. but they tried and so I go 6/10 for effort.. it could have been a 8/10 in better hands I think..

When I was watching it for a second thinking it was a copy of a movie I like called Daltry Calhoun but nope.. just the Banks girl was in both..

I thought this movie was flawed but I still liked it.

yeah, i thought it was watchable. not a classic or anything, but it wasn't offensive or memorably bad.
aaron eckhart is good, i thought the kid was pretty good, and i actually think its the best i've ever seen jessica act.

its weird..the movie is weirdjust fitted.
