Why was the first 40 minutes screened if there was no musical score???

Last week it was said that Cliff Martinez was supposed to score the film but it was changed to Marco Beltrami. So that means the film hasnt been scored yet, so why would they screen the first 40 mins of the film if it has so musical score? Please reply back

Re: Why was the first 40 minutes screened if there was no musical score?

We don't know when the change in film scorer was made. Mangold simply replied to an inquiry about Beltrami that it was Marco Beltrami who was doing the film score, without any mention as to when MB started on the job.

@marco_beltrami Sure! But always wise to start softer and hear from other side before making accusations. Relax. Marco is scoring the film.

Re: Why was the first 40 minutes screened if there was no musical score?

So you're basically saying that the change in composers happened a while ago before it was announced that Marco was scoring instead of Cliff

I don't know that what has been publicly shared by J. Mangold is that Beltrami is doing the film scoring, without any additional info on when he started on the job.

I just hope that score is really good that doesn't sound cheap and gives the film no vibe. Im one of those fans who is very concerned about film scores. I want the music to sound big and one that fits in with the film that gives it a good vibe.

I don't know the specifics here, but early cuts typically use temp music while waiting for its score to be completed. I would imagine that was the case here.

Increasingly final scores even end up mimicking the temp scores because, after spending so much time with their temporary music directors become attached to it and push composers to get as close as they can to it.

Re: Why was the first 40 minutes screened if there was no musical score?

Ok i guess that makes more sense. I just hope the score doesn't feel rushed and very cheap because this is like my most anticipated movie of the year and that i'm very concerned about film scores. I like scores that sound big and scores that gives a scene a good vibe that goes along with the scene especially action scenes. I just hate when composers do scores for one of the biggest most anticipated movies that sound so small and cheap with no vibe and gives the movie no tone or theme. I know musical score doesn't concern a lot of people but to me it does a lot. I hope Marco gives me what i want.
