Genevieve Padalecki : Does she have some seriously powerful people behind her?

Does she have some seriously powerful people behind her or something? Otherwise I just can't understand how she's surviving in Supernatural,
I mean, where she's got all these criticisms which are just and proper.
Ruby storyline as well as her intolerable acting are ruining the show.
Everytime I see her face I wanna puke and cry at the same time.

I suspect the fact that she is dating Jared to be the reason she is still on Supernatural (just my opinion, I don't know this for a fact).

I second that. It's got to be because of Jared. It definetly can't be her acting.

But if she's getting this job because of Jared Why didn't Sandy get a regular role? She was the acknowledged fiancee And a much more decent actress. Also, I don't think Jared has enough power to keep a major role for someone who is clearly very incompetent
If they are dating, great. (but Genevieve needs to break up with her previous boyfriend first, two-timing is not cool).
If they are not, that is some really bad publicity job they are doing, it totally doesn't have the same beneficial effects of the Gossip Girl crew dating each other

I'm pretty damn sure it's not publicity. And the Gossip Girl crew is a bunch of cocky kids who enjoy living in the limelight for a few years.

I don't think that Jared has any say in which characters to keep and which not.

I dont mean to be rude, but is he talking about the same performance. Cause damn, she may very well be an awesome, amazing woman. But her acting in the role sucks.

It could just be bad writing, but her acting as Ruby seems completely forced. Even the scene with her and Jared in the hotel room in Chris Angel is a Douche Bag, it seemed like way over acting to me.

No offense what so ever towards Gen, but I really hope they get a new actress next season. Cause everytime she comes onto the screen, I just role my eyes waiting for her scene to be over and I hate it.

I think if that character was played right by a good actress then it would be an awesome character. It definitely has the potential of being a banging character, but so far, the actresses who have played her, aside from maid!ruby, have sucked.

Kinda like Drusilla from Buffy, that role would be an extremely hard one to pull off, but she, sorry I can't remember the actress's name who played her, did a wonderful job.

But wishing for a new Ruby now I think is something that will never happen. I truly hope that their relationship is not dictating things, but I think it is. Eric said that he wanted Ruby to body bounce this season, and supposedly all the body bouncing that went on, aside from Sam and Ruby, sorry, bad joke; was in I Know What You Did Last Summer. Now if that isn't a cop out, I dont know what is. And if their relationship is dictating things, then . gah is all I have to say to that.

Well, my husband feels the same way about her that I do, so I would say no, it is not jealousy.

well they could have got the actresses who played Meg, Bela or the bartender chick Cassie (from Sin City) to play Ruby.
Well, the Meg actresses probably couldn't since she already played one important character.
But the Bela actress and the Cassie actress definitely have some talent.
I would even say Sandy McCoy (Jared's ex-fiancee) showed more talent in her cameo than either Ruby. Katie was pretty bad, but she became Oscar-worthy when compared to Genevieve. That's just how bad Genevieve is. Literally the worst actress in this show so far.

It is pretty bad when we look back at Katie's performance as Ruby and think fondly of it.

I agree. She might be a nice enough girl off-screen, but on-screen, I'm sorry, but she just doesn't cut it. She would likely be good as a background performer, but in a recurring role, with lines?

everyone who complains about actors on imdb (or blogs, forums, etc..) are clearly NOT in the industry. easier to judge and criticize when you're not doing it yourselves, eh?. does everyone feel better about their pathetic lives when putting down others? it's a shame how most threads are about trivial and banal "so & so looks like that person" or "he/she is ugly/fat" or "he/she can't act", yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah. i'm sure the insecurities that explode all over this site are eclipsed by the lack of confidence in real life. society truly deserves an enema.

And your wrong. I have acted in the past, in school and small indie movies, and have many friends who are in the acting industry. I have the utmost respect for them because I know how hard it can be. And if you haven't been listening/reading, people generally, except a few people, haven't discussed her appearance in a negative way. I think she has a unique beauty and said in a previous post that she is probably an awesome person, but her acting is not where it should be for a recurring character.

It would be the exact same thing if you were a painter, which I was for a year, and someone tears apart your work because its just not good enough. They are not slamming you as a person, they are telling you that its just not good enough. Either fix it, or find another profession. Its a simple as that.

I think audiences are not blind when it comes to acting.
Just look at the guest actors fans actually like:
Meg, Gordon, Hendricksen, Cassie the demon, Ron
the actors for Gordon and Hendricksen received regular roles in other series (that's why their characters had to be killed), Meg has been around many shows and has a nice reputation.
All of them CAN ACT.

It's the industry standard: to be any kind of successful, you are either an awesome actor, or blindingly gorgeous so people ignore your incompetence for your beauty/sex appeal.

Given the fact that most female guest stars on Supernatural are both talented and gorgeous, Genevieve, IMHO, actually lacks in both categories when co5b4mpared to past SPN female stars. Even Lilith acted better and how old is she???

I previous pegged Katie Cassidy as the girl in Supernatural who lacks both talent and beauty, but when compared to Genevieve, she's instantly elevated to Best Actress level. It's pretty sad.

Ok, what does it clear up? She auditioned for a love interest, but plays a demontherefore, she should play a demon. She was told to watch KC's version of Ruby, but acts nothing like her. So all it does is show that she isn't doing anything remotely like last season's Ruby.

The only thing it cleared up for me when I read it several months ago is Gen has NO IDEA on how to portray a demon or be a recast for a character on any show. Hence me believing that the reason she is on the show is because she is dating Jared.

But Jared is just an actor on the show, he doesn't have that much power, and I don't think Jared is that type of guy who pushes for his "girlfriend" even he knows she's completely incompetent.
And we don't even know if he's dating her. She didn't break up with her previous boyfriend either.
Maybe if she's dating Kripke but I don't think Kripke will risk his darling show for an incompetent girlfriend.

Dating Jared alright,more like fantasizing about dating and being married to the poor guy. God forbid, what's wrong with Danneel and Genevieve? Is the meth that they are hooked up keeps them reliving their lives over and over in a neverending fantasy love story about Jensen and Jared? I bet it does. This person needs God to help her/him and be guided into the right path, Jared Padalecki has openly announced at last year's supernatural convention that he isn't married or even involved with him/her and said that he's married to Bianca Ware. He also said that he dedicated the ''like a virgin'' episode of Supernatural to bianca ware because he said when they met and started dating she was a virgin. He also said that her photo will be featured on an upcoming episode of Supernatural.

Both Rubies are horrible IMHO (what a waste of a character), and Ruby is badly written in general; however, Genevieve made Katie looks like the Goddess of Acting, which is so sad (because Katie is not exactly a good actress).

I don't mind the Ruby story line- it's intriguing because they aren't giving away her intentions just yet. However, Ruby in her current incarnation is sucktastic and annoying. I'd much rather have the blond Ruby or the hotel maid Ruby. This actress is awful and needs to exit the show asap.

Isn't this thread also a bit insulting towards the awesomeness that is : the people who created spn and are still doing so?

she's a good actress. i've seen her in wildfire and she is one of the better actors on the show.
i admit i've never seen a full episode of supernatural, but i don't believe for a SECOND that the acting is all that amazing. why?
1) the show is on the CWthat should be reason enough.
2) the show is on the CW.. not known to have shows that are full of substance.

The scene at the end of season 4 when Lucifer rises was the one that showed me how bad she was for that part. It was just so over the top and not appropriate for the scene at all.

It was such a pivotal scene and required so much but fell so flat, it was bad. I hated the first Ruby too so maybe it was just a combination of bad acting and bad writing.

Kathleen Monroe was good in her small roles and could have made a good Anna or Ruby i think.

I have no problem with either her acting, or her looks. She is a perfectly passable actor, and beautiful to boot. She and Jared make a lovely couple.
