Have you seen Hollywood that's on Netflix now? Murphy's always touched on homosexuality and been bold about it. Dunno about his personal life. Don't really care. This looks like a precious little love story though.

It was interesting. One of the women, Terri, was actually one of the female baseball players that the movie A League of Their Own was based on.
But then about 3/4 in, something happened that sort of pissed me off and tainted the movie.

They're in their 80's and they were looking to sell their house they lived in for 20 years so take into account that equity once sold for one thing. One partner Terry wanted to go back home to Canada where her entire family (they're both from Canada) would be welcome but Patty, the younger, more agile and able-bodied one didn't want to, it's too cold. Terry had developed Parkinson's and it was clear she needed help.
So with Terry's niece's intervention they looked at an assisted living facility, and it IS, without doubt, expensive, at over $7,000/month for very small apartments. Terry seemed fine with it, and Patty put her foot down saying there's no way they're paying $7k, almost $8k each month for assisted living.
I get all that.
Terry's niece was staying with them, and while Patty was sleeping, Terry pulled out the bank statements to show the niece that they have well over a million dollars in the bank and with investments, and actually rather easily could afford this facility, despite it being insanely and outrageously expensive. Bear in mind they've been together since the 40's and have amassed a wealth.
Terry said she "had a dream" they just sold the house with everything in it and moved to this facility (which was in Illinois, where they lived, so not bitter cold Canada) and got a fresh start,…from a large house into a little one bedroom apartment. Patty starts in with how "oh no, those lamps are coming, and those paintings are coming, and definitely these rugs, and those statues…" putting up road blocks all the time, all the way,….in dreams, in reality.
The next morning Cathy the niece was in hysterics, crying, telling Patty that Auntie Terry showed her the bank statements even though Auntie Patty didn't want her to, and was L-I-V-I-D about the lies. They could pay for it several times over, because they had access to medical provisions, a physician once a week, a hospital close by, no steps to pull a wheelchair up.
And the face they're in their mid to late 80's, this was very, very feasible. WHY did Patty insist on HIDING that money from Cathy and from the documentary crew? If it were shy, timid Terry finally eeking out and showing Cathy, nothing would have happened.
THAT is what made me so damn livid because I know people like that who keep their finances secret from their partner AND LIE about what's in the bank to their spouse.
