Yeah! I agree. It's a great song. Definitely one of my top favorites from her early days.

Here's something funny about that song: she talked about Into The Groove in a couple of interviews a few years ago. Even though she co-wrote it, she didn't like it much herself prior to its release. She mentioned that she felt dumb singing it. She wanted to pack it away and skip recording it but folks close to her encouraged her to record it anyway. Basically, her entourage liked it more than she did. Of course, they were right so we've got them to thank. I specifically remember Madonna saying something to the effect of: I'm not always the best judge of which of my songs is going to be a hit.

And here's the funny thing, Into the Groove was played all over the radio stations back thenand still isand it never charted. The song would have been a number 1 song for herbut Warner Bros chose to promote "Angel" instead.

it's a timeless track. Wonder who came up with that killer synth bassline - Nile Rodgers? I always thought it was Jellybean but he isn't credited.
