Dance with a Stranger : Say what??

I couldn't understand almost anything that Miranda Richardson said in this film. I couldn't understand at least half of the other dialogue, either. Folks in the industry, please include English subtitles when you author a DVD. Not only is my hearing not perfect, but I have a hard time understanding many accents, and Richardson talked very fast and with affectations for much of the film, Ian Holm had a scene where he was mumbling with a cigarette in his mouth, etc. It was like trying to watch a film in a language I can not understand, without the aid of subtitles.

I hear ya, JrnlofEddieDeezenStudies, though I didn't have any trouble with the accents in this one myself.

But I do feel subtitles should be a basic requirement of all films on DVD and Blu-ray.

My UK-released region 2 DVD has full subtitles. If you're outside of Europe and have a multi-region player it may be worth searching this version out.

Thanks for the info. I know you were probably talking to the OP, but for myself, I'm in Australia, and yeah I've already got a multiregion player. I don't have trouble understanding most Brit or US accents, but I tend not to buy UK DVDs because the audio pitch-shift caused by PAL speed-up really irritates me. (It's not so bad on dialogue, of course, but musical scores get hard to listen to when you can tell they're off-pitch.) I tend to buy a lot of Blu-rays instead these days, and those I do buy from the UK, but a lot of good Brit films like this one aren't on Blu-ray yet.
