Carrie Fisher : Does anyone think that an 11 hour flight may have contributed?
Re: Does anyone think that an 11 flight may have contributed?
Planes, 11, and NYC are a bad combination.

My wife developed blood clots (one eventually lodged in a kidney) taking the Red Eye from Kali. She now has to wear compression stockings when she flies and must walk the aisle every few hours. It was later traced to a medication error but the damage was done. People always ask if she was a smoker so I guess that can be an issue. I've seen it referenced that Carrie smoked.
Sitting is a deadly position
Even just the position of sitting, in general, is an unhealthy position to be in for long periods. Yet our civilization is built around sitting being the "ideal" body position.

She could have had an embolism and it's a detail we just haven't heard about yet. My mother died from a pulmonary embolism, but only the heart attack it led to was listed on her death certificate.
My cousin later died from an asthma attack while ending a short flight to Las Vegas from San Diego. I believe there may be something about imperfect decompression in the descent that can trigger those attacks.

It's certainly possible. Her 7echeart was likely damaged by her previous drug use and a blood clot could very well have broken loose during the long flight if she didn't get up to move around enough. But a number of other things might have caused her to go into cardiac arrest too. She may have been been over exhausted from working to complete her filming in time to get home for Christmas, over exerted herself running to get to the gate in London, or combined the wrong medications without knowing it.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.
