She retired from acting way back in 1944 at the age of 26. She should have continued on for a few years more in the industry. She might have scored an Oscar winning role eventually.

Just finished doing the math in my head when I saw your post. I was stunned to find out she retired from acting so early! I never would've guessed, since she made such a big impression on me with the films she made. I agree that she could've eventually won an Oscar.
