Dangal.

Hidden figures is inspiring for all the girls -especially black girls- who thought math was only for men not women.

Re: this year's best film on women empowerment is

I have not seen Dangal.

Thematic spoilers ahead:

Arrival was the most moving film I've seen in a long time, and Amy Adams masterfully played a powerful and meaningful role. Hers was a distinctly female presence: cogitative, thoughtful, gentle, connected in spirit, while also deeply intelligent and skilled in her field. It was a rare and special thing to see an alien movie that had language and interconnectedness and empathy at its core, rather than war. It felt so female to have language and communication as the source here.

Insightful post, I hadn't thought about it quite in those terms, but very true. Very refreshing to have a female lead navigate a movie like this and actually use things like compassion, language, communication, to problem solve. Instead of just having a female lead arbitrarily.

Re: this year's best film on women empowerment is

I agree. The film has a powerful message and impact.

In 2017, Akshay Kumar's "Toilet" is the film.
