Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood : the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

as I'm watching this now on my TV, the biggest problem isn't that QT made Bruce Lee looks like a complete idiot who couldn't fight that well

but the scene is very boring, and drags on and on when it could have been a lot shorter… it has to do with Cliff's reason for not being able to stunt on Rick's new job, which isn't that important to the story…

but when a backstory explanation becomes longer than the reason for having it, the whole thing feels like a deleted scene, which this should have been, sorry

That's funny. I had just written a post titled 'The Real Problem with the Bruce Lee Scene…' before noticing this post.

Sounds like he nailed it.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

I have no problem with QT making Bruce Lee look as though he couldn't fight well. We have enough empirical evidence now to know Eastern martial arts are not an effective form of combat or self defense.

I'd buy Bruce Lee could beat an average joe his own size who had never so much as clinched a fist, but getting his ass kicked by a stuntman who was much bigger than he was and also led a life that suggested having been in his share of actual fights is not only believable, but exactly what would've happened.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

I honestly had no problem with the scene and think people are overreacting. The only thing that gets on my nerves while watching the movie is all the feet shots.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

The funniest part is Janet's cankles at the end of the scene.

The funniest part was when he threw him into the side of the car.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

I don't care who you are.

IRL you or whoever makes a dent like that will end up in the hospital and in a body cast.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

But that wasn't real life, that was Hollyweird!

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

There's no problem with the scene, though.

I live. I die. I live again.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

It's just another over-acted, dialogue heavy scene in a movie full of over-acted, dialogue heavy scenes.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

I see no problem with it. In fact, it might be my favorite scene.

It was relevant. You don't see relevancy until later in the movie. Apparently Bruce Lee choreographed fight scenes for movies back then. Tarantino added a flashback sequence that ties Sharon Tate to Bruce Lee. It's in that scene of Sharon watching herself in the movie Bruce trained her to do her own stunts.

Re: the real problem with the Bruce Lee scene is

I never got if it was fantasy or a flashback.
