Hocus Pocus : sequel

sequel

if the fans and the stars want a sequel. then why not make it
its not hard do bring characters back from the dead just look at Freddy, Jason and Michael. so why do you think Disney will not make a sequel.

Re: sequel

It might make a sequel, but the box-office receipts were exceedingly poor for the original film. And Bette Midler is no longer the box-office powerhouse she used to be.

Re: sequel

I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather have a sequel to Hocus Pocus rather than a gazillion Star Wars sequels/prequels/midquels or Frozen 2. Come on, Disney!

Re: sequel

Frozen made over 400 million at the box office and was a merchandising giant. And need we even mention the Star Wars franchise?

Hocus Pocus isn't in their league, nowhere near. Come on.

Re: sequel

Except Hocus Pocus is a much better film than any of the Star Wars films or Froverrated.

I guess that's irrelevant, though. It's more important for a movie to be a box office hit than to actually be good.

Re: sequel

No, it isn't a "much better film." It wasn't nominated for any Oscars, was a box-office dud, and a critical failure at the time of release.

I'm glad you like the film, but saying it's better than Frozen and Star Wars is just silly. It isn't.

Re: sequel

Thanks for proving that Hocus Pocus is underrated.

Saying because it wasn't nominated for Oscars and was a "dud" makes it an inferior film is what's silly.

This film is better-structured and more entertaining than any given Star Wars film (which put me to sleep after an hour; that's how boring they are) or Frozen (which has enough plot holes to fill a deep ditch).

Re: sequel

Come on. Frozen made over 400 million at the domestic box office. It won Best Song. And let's not even get into Star Wars.

Hocus Pocus looks like a glorified Disney Channel movie. Outside of Bette Midler, it has absolutely no starpower, and the streets and houses, structures and cemeteries all look like they were constructed on a sound stage. I'm pretty sure this was conceived as a made-for-TV flick, along the lines of Halloweentown...but when Midler was signed, they decided to aim for a movie release.

The humor is sophomoric, the music nothing special, and the actors are annoying. That little blonde girl has to be one of the most ANNOYING children I've ever seen in movies, bar none. She makes Jake Lloyd look like Laurence Olivier by comparison.

Re: sequel

By "little blonde girl" do you mean Dani? Because she was a redhead.

Re: sequel

the movie boomed because it came out in the summer. I think if it came out during Halloween it would have been great at the box office

Re: sequel

I wouldn't mind a sequel, but what else could they do? Someone going to perform a resurrection spell and copy the first film?
