Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Mainstream. I agree that it's a classic.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

ok, but you know what i mean about it? how it feels like as far as the history of the movie and people not really knowing about it that it feels like a cult movie?

hey so can you please respond to my last message to you about sandra dee and some cult movies?

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

but you know what i mean about it? how it feels like as far as the history of the movie and people not really knowing about it that it feels like a cult movie?

Yes, I get what you mean. It's probably more of a cult film today because it's old and the younger crowd has never heard of it. I think a lot of boomers and gen xers (like myself) are familiar with it though. I believe that it did quite well at the box office when it was released in the seventies. Katherine Ross was a well-known actress then and the film is based on a popular Ira Levin novel.

Re: Is 'The Stepford Wives' (1975) a cult film?…

Box Office

Gross USA: $8,720,000
Don't know what the net is??

Re: Is 'The Stepford Wives' (1975) a cult film?…

I don't think means "gross" as in total profit. I think some asshole is saying the USA is gross.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

you misspelled katharine by the way. it's katharine not katherine. i love how she spells her name in a way that no other girl ever has.

it seems like a popular film just bc the name stepford wives is such a catch name of popular proportions as far as what stepford wives means. it or the book created something that is a cultural phenomenon.

it made a new words definition and a new word in stepford and what it means. which is really impressive. i mean how many books or movies create words that become known for something that they never had before in dictionaries?

but it also seems like a cult film in that well it's kind of small i mean how many people have talked about this movie who watched it, i can't remember anyone on tv ever talking about it or anyone else except online on message boards.

i have only talked to one person who has watched it who i knew in person. also well it's a small horror movie so a lot of them are cult movies i just don't think that many people watched it when it first came out.

a film never becomes a cult film just bc a generation has never heard of it. a film is cult film based on if it's a popular movie when it first comes out, once it is a popular movie it's not a cult movie ever.

you'll be surprised to know that ferris bueller's day off and top gun are cult movies. bc they weren't popular when they were first in theaters.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Oh well…my bad. I bet there are some other women who spell it that way.

but it also seems like a cult film in that well it's kind of small i mean how many people have talked about this movie who watched it, i can't remember anyone on tv ever talking about it or anyone else except online on message boards.

I guess. I do remember the sequel to it, a made for TV movie called Revenge of the Stepford Wives (1980). It wasn't bad, though instead of killing the women in Stepford and replacing them with lookalike androids, the men drugged their wives in order to turn them into "perfect" subservient Stepford women.

i have only talked to one person who has watched it who i knew in person. also well it's a small horror movie so a lot of them are cult movies i just don't think that many people watched it when it first came out.

My mother introduced me to that film when I was a kid. She was (maybe still is?) a big fan of it. Boomers and older folks are familiar with that film.

Another film from that era with a similar theme is The Dark Secret of Harvest Home, it was a TV miniseries from 1978 starring Bette Davis as the matriarch of a small Connecticut town where a cult of women dominate the men and perform pagan rituals. It's sort of like The Stepford Wives only with the roles reversed, where the women are the sinister ones. Unfortunately, it's never been properly released on DVD but I always recommend it to people who love these kinds of films. It's actually creepier than The Stepford Wives especially when you find out what happens to the men who try to escape or expose the town's secret. Rosanna Arquette and Joanna Miles also star in it. It's based on the excellent 1973 Gothic horror novel Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon (he also wrote The Other).

Full movie is also on youtube…

you'll be surprised to know that ferris bueller's day off and top gun are cult movies. bc they weren't popular when they were first in theaters.

Top Gun was the highest grossing film of 1986.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gun#Box_office

Not sure about Ferris Bueller but I know that it was popular with teenagers in the 80s (having been one myself).

I've never seen either film though.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

i find it really hard to believe rosanna arquette is in it bc it was made in 1978 so she was 14 when she was in it? i mean she's not that old now and she looked about 18 in s.o.b. in 1981.

i love how you mentioned a book again you see to read a lot of books right? do you read a lot of fictional novels? is so what kinds of fictional novels do you like to read?

there is a pretty cool movie from 1988 called, i, madman. its' a horror movie. it has an interesting and original and imaginative story. it's about a girl who works in a book store who is really into this fictional novel.

she starts imagining herself as the main heroine in the book(and the actress who plays the main book store girl also plays her book's heroine) which was written in 1959 and it's like a film noir character she's playing. so the killer comes into her world and comes after her thinking she is the character in the book she's reading. so it's cool how they mix together fantasy and reality.

so its' kind of like in the mouth of madness, where a book character comes into the real world.

have you ever watched either of these films?

can't believe you've never watched ferris bueller's day off or top gun. they were '80s staples classics that everyone who grew up in the '80s watched at least one of them anyway. wow, how did you miss out on watching these iconic '80s films? were you too busy watching horror films to watch them back in the '80s and '90s? or did you never like those kinds of movies?

Not sure of her exact age but she was definitely a teenager.

i love how you mentioned a book again you see to read a lot of books right? do you read a lot of fictional novels? is so what kinds of fictional novels do you like to read?

Yes, but I like the classics more than I like modern fiction. My favorite authors include Dostoevsky, Dickens, Kafka, Huxley, Orwell, Vonnegut and Louis Ferdinand Celine. Poe and Lovecraft are my favorite horror authors. I don't read much new fiction, horror included. The book I mentioned previously (Thomas Tryon's Harvest Home) is more like classic horror/Gothic literature than modern horror fiction. It was a pleasure to read. I highly recommend it.

have you ever watched either of these films?

I've seen In the Mouth of Madness. I like that film a lot. The character Sutter Cane is loosely based on Lovecraft and Stephen King. The title of the film is, of course, a play on Lovecraft's novella, At the Mountains of Madness.

I haven't seen the other film you mentioned.

I never liked those kinds of movies. My tastes aren't very mainstream.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

starting off i have to say: you were right and i was wrong about when burnt offerings was made. i just checked the beginning of the movie and it said VI which means 6 so 1976 not 1974 like i said. i read somewhere 1974 was when this movie was made somewhere though so i guess maybe they were thinking of the book bc you said the book was made in 1974.

i love that you mentioned vonnegut bc my all time favorite tv how mystery science theater 3000, one of the people who worked on it said they used to pretend to be scholarly by reading playboy magazine just to read kurt vonnegut jr.'s stories.

have you ever watched mst3k? right now i'm reading a fiction book called virgin earth by philippa gregory. it is interesting and unique.

i'm borrowing a book from my apartment manager's wife which is a collection of lovecraft stories.

is in the mouth of madness one of you favorite films? what about another sam neill movie from 1981 called possession? it's a movie i've always wanted to watch ever since i saw the video box cover with the provocative and sexual picture of the nude girl's ass.

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

have you ever watched mst3k

No, I've heard good things about it though.

i'm borrowing a book from my apartment manager's wife which is a collection of lovecraft stories.

Yay! My all time favorite Lovecraft story is The Shadow Over Innsmouth. It's truly a terrifying experience to read it late at night. Dagon (2001), the film directed by Stuart Gordon, is based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth and is actually one of the few really good Lovecraft adaptations. The other Lovecraft tales I love are The Dunwich Horror, The Call of Cthulhu, The Outsider, Pickman's Model, The Whisperer in the Darkness and the epic novella At the Mountains of Madness.

is in the mouth of madness one of you favorite films? what about another sam neill movie from 1981 called possession? it's a movie i've always wanted to watch ever since i saw the video box cover with the provocative and sexual picture of the nude girl's ass.

Yes, the film is on my Top 50 Horror Films list. It's the only 90's film on my Top 50 list.

Possession sounds familiar but I don't think that I've seen it.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

ok i like and appreciate how me saying i'm borrowing a book from my apartment manager's wife with lovecraft stories made you happy and excited. i think, though it's been hard at times talking to you about movies that you disagree with me about we can be friends soon.

when you are not on this website what other things do you do in your life for fun?

you have to watch mystery science theater 3000. it's the best show ever made and it's the funniest show ever made. don't know how you can watch it. oh maybe check it out from the library where you live.

i just gasped with breath bc you made me so excited mentioning dagon bc i really liked this movie directed by stuart gordon from 2001. it is a work of art on the same level as hellraiser, lord of illusions and night breed.

and it was stuart gordon at his most accomplished and best as a movie director. i think you'll agree with these 2 statements. do you? he used all his considerable movie directing talents to bring about this amazing and captivating and magical film.

he needs to get more credit for his great films other than re-animator. i mean the guy is utterly brilliant and he's made so many ground breaking and great films that are serious horror films. so not like re-animator. movies like the pit and the pendulum remake from 1991. and i've always gotten the impression that castle freak is a classic film from him.

i met him once. he put on a watch parts of and discussion about his movie re-animator at a hotel close to where i live. just walking next to him to the hotel was so surreal. so he had no body guards or entourage. nothing disconnecting him from regular people like me. he showed parts of his film on a slide projector kind of thing.

one of the things he said about horror movies nowadays this was back in like 2003 was the reason why they are so big in theaters now is from 9/11. his theory is that when world wide tragedies happen horror movie do really good financially. he might be right about this.

the best moment for me was talking to him after the presentation, face to face about the film that he produced which was directed by brian yuzna, his often collaborator, faust: love of the damned.

i praised the film, said it's a great film and that felt so great, telling this guy whom i've always idolized and loved and admired that i love one of his films. now if i can only talk more in depth about this film. about how finely made it is and how much of a work of art it is and how amazing and magical it is.

have you ever watched faust: love of the damned from 2000? its on par in quality and artistic quality with lord of illusions. also it reminds me of this film bc, both films have magical characters who can do magical things.

except in faust: love of the damned it's like a dark comic book, superhero character with a mask who makes a deal with the devil to save the life of his girlfriend but in doing this deal he is under the control of the devil.

i just read on here that the film i just watched for the 2nd time and first since i was like 12 called the curse(1986) is a lovecraft adaptation. now this is a highly affecting and submersive experience film and a very disturbing film.

it stars will wheaton before he was on star trek: then next generation. and it's about a family living on a farm who is diseased by eating vegetables grown on their farm after it's been exposed to a comet which lands near their farm. then they gradually become like zombie people who are crazy.

you have to watch this film. it get my highest recommendation. even at my age and after all the horror films i've watched this film was very unnerving and hard to watch bc of it's slow and consistent descent into hell.

also necromonicon: book of the dead is a very good anthology film from 1993. you should check it out, it has lovecraft stories.

would you call lovecraft the unsung horror hero? why oh why does edgar allen poe get all the credit as being the horror writer who impacted horror more than anyone and is the legend in horror while lovecraft is almost unknown by the general public.

and he is like a folk hero? why do you have to be in the know, in the horror community and a horror fan to know who lovecraft is?

huh, interesting no wonder you love the dunwich horror movie so much, it's bc it's based on lovecraft.

the call of cthulhu is in this book of lovecraft stories i told you about. by the way, is the metallica song call of kathulhu on the ride the lightning album based on this story? i know that their guitarist kirk hammett is a big horror movie fan.

when you say, top 50 horror films list do you mean your personal 50 favorite horror films or the 50 best horror film ever made?

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Yes, I agree that Dagon is his best film.

movies like the pit and the pendulum remake from 1991. and i've always gotten the impression that castle freak is a classic film from him.

I've never seen either of those. I'm familiar with the old The Pit and the Pendulum starring Vincent Price but I haven't seen the remake. I love all of the old Poe adaptations directed by Roger Corman and starring Vincent Price.

have you ever watched faust: love of the damned from 2000?

Sorry, haven't seen that one.

Amazing and impressive that you got to meet and talk to Stuart Gordon.

i just read on here that the film i just watched for the 2nd time and first since i was like 12 called the curse(1986) is a lovecraft adaptation. now this is a highly affecting and submersive experience film and a very disturbing film.

I've heard about The Curse but have never seen it and, yes, it is based on a Lovecraft story, The Color Out of Space. I keep meaning to watch it. Sophie recommended it to me too.

would you call lovecraft the unsung horror hero? why oh why does edgar allen poe get all the credit as being the horror writer who impacted horror more than anyone and is the legend in horror while lovecraft is almost unknown by the general public.

and he is like a folk hero? why do you have to be in the know, in the horror community and a horror fan to know who lovecraft is?

I love Lovecraft's horror stories but I also like the man and his worldview. His stories are metaphorical esp. the Cthulhu Mythos. Lovecraft had great disdain for the modern world. He preferred the past, as do I.

the call of cthulhu is in this book of lovecraft stories i told you about. by the way, is the metallica song call of kathulhu on the ride the lightning album based on this story? i know that their guitarist kirk hammett is a big horror movie fan.

Possibly, but I don't know for sure because I'm not familiar with Metallica's work. I know that the death metal band Morbid Angel are heavily into Lovecraft though and a lot of their songs are based on Lovecraft's creations.

when you say, top 50 horror films list do you mean your personal 50 favorite horror films or the 50 best horror film ever made?

Personal favorites.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

why do you think dagon is gordon's best film? is this partly influenced by and is this partly based on it being the best made lovecraft movie adaptation bc you are such a huge lovecraft fan?

dagon is a work of art. and it's art at it's highest level. stuart gordon is a remarkably gifted film director. i'd put him up with all the best film directors of all time even. i say even bc a lot of people would be not in agreement with this bc he's directed some kind of corny, kind of bad movies. but his best films i'd put up with the best films of any film director.

oh dude you have to watch the pit and the pendulum from 1991 directed by stuart gordon. it's art. it's serious gordon and it is very arthouse, classy, and very european film.

so i just watched for the first time the masque of the red death directed by roger corman and starring vincent price. i didn't like it. it was too slow moving and too old of a movie for me to like. i just can never like movies made in the '60s or before bc they are just so slow moving and just not made the way i want movies to be made.

i've also watched recently the raven a poe film directed by corman and starring price, the fall of the house of usher a poe film directed by corman and starring price and also tower of london a poe film directed by corman and starring price. i don't like any of these movies, too old and too slow moving. gosh dang corman loved to adapt poe stories into movies and he always used price in these poe adaptations.

i also just watched the fly with vincent price. it's really good. i highly recommend it to you. i bet you've already watched it though.

did you know they made a porn parody of re-animator called re-penatrator? it's a good video. unique, clever, quite ingenious, and very original looking and it has very original ideas in it's presentation. like green cum. it's very wild and you have to watch it.

who is sophie?

well i live in the past in my mind frame, sensibilities and lifestyle, in my point of views. i was told once that i'm an old soul. i personally live in my mind and spirt in the 1980s bc for me that is the best decade of all time and there will never be a decade as great as that decade. never will there be a decade with as many visionary movies, music, tv shows, and toys as the 1980s.

i found out lovecraft died pretty young, he was only like 60 something when he died, maybe even younger than 60 something.

i find it very interesting how he's so big in the horror community but outside that, in the mainstream he's not well known. i find this interesting bc you'd think he would be more well know you know a household name since he is so respected and is a legend in the horror community.

ever heard of the band the misfits? i heard they made songs based on horror movies.

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

why do you think dagon is gordon's best film? is this partly influenced by and is this partly based on it being the best made lovecraft movie adaptation bc you are such a huge lovecraft fan?

It's the best film I've seen by him. I was impressed with everything in it - the actors, the sets, the location, the effects. It was a top-notch production and it comes very close to capturing the look and feel of Lovecraft's story, The Shadow Over Innsmouth. Most Lovecraft adaptations never succeed in recreating the feel of his original stories; Dagon came very close though, more so than any other Lovecraft adaptation I've seen.

so i just watched for the first time the masque of the red death directed by roger corman and starring vincent price. i didn't like it. it was too slow moving and too old of a movie for me to like. i just can never like movies made in the '60s or before bc they are just so slow moving and just not made the way i want movies to be made.

I love The Masque of the Red Death. It features one of Price's finest performances.

i've also watched recently the raven a poe film directed by corman and starring price, the fall of the house of usher a poe film directed by corman and starring price and also tower of london a poe film directed by corman and starring price. i don't like any of these movies, too old and too slow moving. gosh dang corman loved to adapt poe stories into movies and he always used price in these poe adaptations.

I love The Raven and House of Usher! I haven't seen Tower of London yet.

The Fly is great too, of course.

who is sophie?

A poster on this board.

well i live in the past in my mind frame, sensibilities and lifestyle, in my point of views. i was told once that i'm an old soul. i personally live in my mind and spirt in the 1980s bc for me that is the best decade of all time and there will never be a decade as great as that decade. never will there be a decade with as many visionary movies, music, tv shows, and toys as the 1980s.

I agree with some of that. The 1980s were certainly better than the present. I seem more suited for the 1880s though.

i found out lovecraft died pretty young, he was only like 60 something when he died, maybe even younger than 60 something.

He was only 46. He died of intestinal cancer. (Very painful, I've heard.) Always the writer and always being fascinated by science, he kept a detailed diary of his illness. I can imagine that he kept on writing right up until he died or at least until he became too weak to hold a pen to paper. That's the kind of writer that Lovecraft was.

ever heard of the band the misfits? i heard they made songs based on horror movies.

Of corpse!! I was a punk rock kid in the 80s. The Misfits were one of my favorite bands. I only like the original 1977-83 band (when Glenn Danzig was the vocalist). The Misfits reformed in 1995 without Danzig, I never cared for that version of the band.

And, yes, many of their songs were based on or inspired by horror movies.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

high praise you gave to stuart gordon on his dagon. i'm very happy you respect gordon so much for this film accomplishment. gordon is a film artist and a visionary of the highest proportions.

the ending to dagon is one of the best endings to a film ever. how the camera keeps panning further and further away from the main half fish/half girl character, the half fish/girl character.

that was so captivating, so epically great, so exhilarating, and so iconic of a shot. the makeup of the half fish/half human people is so impressive and so real looking. my gosh, how did they make them all look so real?

dagon is art at it's highest achieving level.

and the half fish/half human girl was so fucking hot. geez who cares that she's not fully human, i'd fuck her in a heartbeat even if i was petrified of doing it bc of what she looks like!

would you fuck her if you had the chance?

i've watched price in countless movies at this point and he's always great, no matter what movie he's in. he was particularly great in the tingler. have you watched this movie?

what is sophie's user name on here? there's is a sophie on here that i've talked to.

you agree with exactly what about me saying the 1980s is the best decade ever as far as how many visionary movies, tv shows, music, and toys were made in the 1980s?

joe bob briggs in in search of darkness that documentary i told you about said it very well when he said, in the 1980s filmmakers were about creating movies whereas nowadays filmmakers are into recreating movies we've already had.

i find it kind of romantic but also tragically sad if lovecraft continued to write till his dying day. gosh can you imagine dying at 46? that is so horribly young to die at.

i didn't know you were into punk rock music. some of the movies i've mentioned on here horror movies you've never watched so you never know if you liked punk rock music. i think there is a connection with a person liking punk rock music and liking horror movies.

bc they both represent an anarchic sensibility and aesthetic. and often times outcasts like to listen to punk rock music and watch horror movies.

exactly i've always imagined the band is better with glenn danzig than without. can't believe glenn danzig goes as far back in music as 1977, that makes him really old now. :) wonder why he left the misfits?

danzig is a big fan of the band black sabbath. i know this from watching his episode of that metal show about 10 years ago with bill ward, the original drummer of black sabbath. danzig said that their first album, self tilted album is one of the most influential albums ever made. do you like black sabbath?

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

dagon is art at it's highest achieving level.

Yes, it's an excellent film.

and the half fish/half human girl was so fucking hot. geez who cares that she's not fully human, i'd fuck her in a heartbeat even if i was petrified of doing it bc of what she looks like!

would you fuck her if you had the chance?

If I was a Lovecraftian half-fish creature I'd probably like to mate with her. Otherwise, I prefer the other girl (the main character's girlfriend), she was a real catch!

i've watched price in countless movies at this point and he's always great, no matter what movie he's in. he was particularly great in the tingler. have you watched this movie?

Yes, The Tingler is my favorite William Castle film. It's on my Top 50 list. Other Castle films I love are 13 Ghosts, The House on Haunted Hill (another classic with Vincent Price), The Spirit is Willing, Mr. Sardonicus, Homicidal and The Old Dark House remake.

what is sophie's user name on here? there's is a sophie on here that i've talked to.

Sophieglitch is her latest account, I believe. She has others, most have the name 'Sophie' in them. Yes, you've probably talked to her.

you agree with exactly what about me saying the 1980s is the best decade ever as far as how many visionary movies, tv shows, music, and toys were made in the 1980s?

I agree with you that it was great decade as far as movies, music and TV shows go.

Toys in the 80s? Does the Rubik's Cube count? I loved those things.

i didn't know you were into punk rock music. some of the movies i've mentioned on here horror movies you've never watched so you never know if you liked punk rock music. i think there is a connection with a person liking punk rock music and liking horror movies.

Yes, a lot of punk fans seem to enjoy horror films.

bc they both represent an anarchic sensibility and aesthetic. and often times outcasts like to listen to punk rock music and watch horror movies.

True.

exactly i've always imagined the band is better with glenn danzig than without. can't believe glenn danzig goes as far back in music as 1977, that makes him really old now. :) wonder why he left the misfits?

He had musical and personal differences with the other band members. The brothers Doyle and Jerry, the Misfits' guitarist and bassist, were notoriously sloppy musicians, which is fine for punk rock, but Danzig wanted to move on musically and start playing more complex material. In 1983 he started Samhain, a Gothic/metal/post-punk band; the band's music was a step up from the Misfits. The horror themes remained but there was also a more "serious" occult element to the band's lyrics and image. Eventually, Samhain morphed into the band Danzig in 1987 and Glenn took his music in a much more mainstream metal/hard rock direction. I prefer Samhain over both the Misfits and Danzig.

danzig is a big fan of the band black sabbath. i know this from watching his episode of that metal show about 10 years ago with bill ward, the original drummer of black sabbath. danzig said that their first album, self tilted album is one of the most influential albums ever made. do you like black sabbath?

Yes, love them esp. that first album and the Paranoid LP and the Heaven and Hell LP, which is the first album they did with Dio on vocals.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

but if the half fish girl/half human girl was more beautiful than any other girl in dagon wouldn't you want to have sex with her more than with any other girl in this film? so isn't it more important what a girl looks like than the fact that she is only half human?

i've watched mr. sardonius thought it was really bad and really boring.

did you know that william castle actually produced rosemary's baby? i find this extremely odd. i just found this out about a year ago. i find this extremely odd bc when i think of castle i think of old '50s innocent, kids horror films like the tingler or house on haunted hill not something evil and adult horror like rosemary's baby.

she a horrible person sophie whatever her name is on here. she pretends to care about me deeply having these passionate and in depth emotionally messages to me with love letter kinds of endearing words and then she leaves me alone for months on end and never replies to my messages that i keep sending her over and over again.

she proclaims to love me and told me we'll be together someday but never means the words she is saying is only playing with me, is only using me for a good time at my expense.

not ever hearing the misfits with glenn or samhain or danzig except mother i have to say it sounds like samhain is better than the misfits with him and danzig bc you said danzig became much more mainstream than samhain and i hate pop music so the more away from pop music the better also bc you said samhain was more a serious band than the misfit with glenn.

by the way when you said post punk it immediately reminded me of my all time favorite band pixies. the reason why is my friend i told you about who loves the misfits told me that pixies is a post punk band. do you love pixies?

i love that samhain is a gothic band bc i love gothic music like bauhaus. do you love bauhaus?

what about the black sabbath album master of reality? do you love it? also do you love their album sabatoge? i heard they came back with ronnie james dio and made their hardest rocking album ever with sabotage.

what's interesting to me is dio not only made the album heaven and hell with bs but also made the band called heaven and hell with richie blackmore.

also they had the drummer vinnie apacie when they made sabatoge who is the younger brother of drummer carmine apiece.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

but if the half fish girl/half human girl was more beautiful than any other girl in dagon wouldn't you want to have sex with her more than with any other girl in this film? so isn't it more important what a girl looks like than the fact that she is only half human?

I thought the other woman (Spanish actress Raquel Merono Coello) was more attractive. I like Southern European women.

The actress who played the half-fish girl is attractive too. But, sexually, I'd prefer her as a human not a half-fish person. I don't believe in interspecies sex.

No, but that's interesting. Maybe he agreed to produce Rosemary's Baby after seeing Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), which was much more of a horror comedy film and similar in some ways to Castle's tongue in cheek horror films.

Are you sure she wasn't just joking around or that you weren't talking to someone who was pretending to be her (we have a lot of impostors on this board)?

My interactions with her have been pleasant.

by the way when you said post punk it immediately reminded me of my all time favorite band pixies. the reason why is my friend i told you about who loves the misfits told me that pixies is a post punk band. do you love pixies?

Yeah, I like Bauhaus but I'm not much of a Pixies fan (admittedly, I haven't heard much by them).

what about the black sabbath album master of reality? do you love it? also do you love their album sabatoge?

Yes and yes. Those are both classic Sabbath albums.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

no way, you'd actually have sex with the half fish girl if she was fully human over the more beautiful girl in this film if she was a half fish girl? that's amazing to me bc you said your mind is in the 1800s so i'd think you would be more independent of a thinker than liver than that. more open minded than that.

nothing wrong with sex with animals by the way. if you are a girl nothing wrong with having sex with a gigantic donged horse and nothing wrong with me watching you having sex with said gigantic donged horse. i mean they have freaking insanely big dongs so every girl at least has thought of in a fantasy way about having sex with a horse.

yes, i'm so glad you mentioned the fearless vampire killers bc this is such a wonderful film and its so well made. its almost a classic.

do you love it? i thought it was boring in a lot of parts bc well it was made in 1967 so it almost has to be boring to me but i liked a lot of it and thought it was quite original and quite clever with it's humor and lines of dialogue.

also it's quite ahead of it's time as far as it being a vampire film with comedy and it's humor was quite ahead of it's time and quite clever with it's humor and lines of dialogue.

yes, didn't i tell you she pretended and professed to love me and get together with me? also she sent me nude pics of herself and even audio recordings of her voice.

she did everything you can possibly expect from a girl who wants to be with you in a relationship but then would not reply for 2 months and did this more than once and when i asked her to please talk to me she would either say nothing or said she will but never did. she's a horrible person who only wanted attention.

Yes, I'd prefer to have sex with the fully human one. However, I'd still think the Spanish one is prettier (half-fish or not).

Yes, there's plenty wrong with it. Humans shouldn't be having sex with animals. Period.

yes, i'm so glad you mentioned the fearless vampire killers bc this is such a wonderful film and its so well made. its almost a classic.

I like it.

What went on between you and her is none of my business so I really can't comment on any of that but I find it hard to believe that she sent any guy here nude photos of herself.

I can understand why this resonates with you, lukejbarnett. You like putting women in what you assume is their place.

Katharine Hepburn spells her name this way.

But she probably does not count because she's a manly lesbian who doesn't have any tits.

What do you think of Bette Davis? She had pretty big tits. In Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? her tits come down to her stomach. Do you like old ladies with big tits?

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🐱

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

You can probably title it under a "cult classic" these days, as I believe the years have been kind to the film. The Stepford Wives was modestly successful during its initial release, but wasn't a huge hit on par with previous cinematic adaptations of Ira Levin novels. Which was what the studio was hoping for im sure.

Its not a film that has enjoyed numerous re-releases on dvd, bluray, like other films, so its very much a cult classic as it certainly has its place, but I wouldn't go as far as claiming the film is mainstream.

I really feel sorry for anyone who watched only the Nicole Kidman version and not this one. Talk about "missing out"!

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

"the years have been kind to the film." it's very entertaining even to me who is a gen x person which is very impressive. so it's not a usual slow moving '70s movie, it's entertaining all the way through, that's why it holds up so well according to my film likes.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

It has sequels and a parody remake.

Revenge of The Stepford Wives, The Stepford Husbands and The Stepford Children

Too Hot To Handle…irl

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

I like Revenge of The Stepford Wives. It's a decent sequel.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Its mainstream but its lack of availability on Blu-Ray and not being showcased on the main streaming services hardly ever much has confused people into thinking its a cult film.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

^ This

I found a used copy of the DVD on Amazon for a few dollars. That was years ago though. New copies of the DVD are currently selling for $36. Amazing that it's not available on Blu-ray.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Yeah, I remember buying the dvd of the original shortly before the Nicole Kidman version was released in theaters. Which obviously pales in comparison to the subtlety nuisances of the 70s cult classic.

About the best thing I liked about the Nicole Kidman reboot of The Stepford Wives was the teaser trailer. I'm not sure if the film itself really had a specific identity? As some of the Stepford wives seemed simply hypnotized, while others came across as actual cyborgs.

I remember reading somewhere that some people involved with the reboot were under the impression that the film would be akin to the psychological thriller the original was, while others thought the film was going to be an outright comedy.

Apparently, this confusion carried over to the film itself.

Thankfully, the original was MUCH more focused and CLEARLY the better film by a mile!

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

Thanks for the heads up on the remake. I haven't seen it yet, and judging by what I've heard about it, I'm in no rush to see it.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

don't ever do it bc then you will be condoning and supporting it's existence which is the worst thing you can do to the original.

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

i was so ticked off when i saw they remade it that i couldn't stand it.

it's yet another "cash grab easy money remake of a classic film so lets shit on the original film by making a completely unnecessary and not anywhere close to as great of a film as the original film bc it's impossible to make a remake as great as the original film film.

and you know what they also remade robocop, ghostbusters, footloose, and a nightmare on elm street. all movies that can not be remade bc it's impossible for them to be any better which should be the only reason a remake is made, can it be better than the original.

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

and you know what they also remade robocop, ghostbusters, footloose, and a nightmare on elm street.

I avoided all those remakes.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

you should also avoid the remake of the stepford wives bc it can't be better than the original.

apparently i just heard this from my sister. one of her all time favorite films the princess bride, filmmakers were working on a remake of it. this better not happen ever.

my sister made a funny line about this that she read on a website about this remake. someone make a reference to a line in this film about the remake. it was "it would be a waste of a perfect film, in reference to the line, it would be a waste of perfect breasts," a line made about princess buttercups's tits.

it's interesting how she views a remake of a film as making it worse for her and the original film. a remake if you really think about it does nothing to the original film. it just makes us resent the remake, and the existence of the remake bc to us, the loyal fan of the original, it shouldn't exist.

i can't believe they remade the texas chainsaw massacre and black christmas and the last house on the left and i spit on your grave and the hills have eyes. i really could go on and on listing all these horror movie classics that they had no right to make remakes of.

the only horror film that has been made since 2003 that should have been made is silent night, but it want' a remake it was just a tribute movie bc it wasn't like the original at all, it just has a very similar tribute to the deer antler impaling linnea quigley scene.

you really have to watch the most comprehensive and very informative documentary in search of darkness. you can watch it for free on this website. just look up this documentary and click on the video for it.

the filmmakers of classic horror films made in the '80s take the time to talk about almost every important horror movie made in the '80s, film by film, year by year.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

i can't believe they remade the texas chainsaw massacre and black christmas and the last house on the left and i spit on your grave and the hills have eyes. i really could go on and on listing all these horror movie classics that they had no right to make remakes of.

The remake of The Hills Have Eyes is pretty good, I must say, but it still pales in comparison to the original film.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

but that's my point. it's a losing cause making a remake of a classic film bc you are going against all the fans of the original so you have to win them over which for some people is impossible to do.

also with some films my friend just said today that remaking ghostbusters is very very hard to do bc there is a 1% chance that the remake is better than the original.

so you have to do a test screening of the remake and see if audiences love it before you complete it. the original film is a perfect film. it has perfect casting, a unique and original story, prefect and very memorable acting by all the actors, there is not a weak acting part and not a performance that you think could be better if played by another actor.

so if a movie can't be improved upon it should never be remade and ghostbusters can't be made better so it shouldn't have been remade. also my friend said this remake damages and tarnishes the original film by it's existing bc from now on we live in a world in which has the original film, a classic film and the stupid and wrong remake. also he said the remake is an inferior product to the original film in the same way that the wnba is an inferior league to the nba.

i said having these 2 movies in the world is like being made the best gourmet meal in the world and getting fed this food and being full and then being given a generic hamburger from mcdonald's and then having to eat it so over eating when you don't need to eat it. so we have 2 movies and only one is necessary to watch. we don't need the remake and we shouldn't have the remake bc it's unnecessary bc it's not as good as the original.

movies are about giving us something we've never seen before. so to make a remake is starting off as a bad idea inherently it only becomes necessary if you can make it better than the original.

then the hills have eyes remake shouldn't have ever been made.

now what did you think of piranha(2010) which was directed by the same director who directed the remake of the hills have eyes, alexandre aja? my gosh this film is amazing. even if it's a remake of one of my all time favorite films piranha (1978)directed by joe dante i would be ok with that bc this film piranha(2010) is technically one of the best horror films and films ever made.

this film has a greatness in technical aspects: makeup effects, digital effects, acting, directing, story, pacing, tone, sound that is remarkable and truly astounding.

it puts you at the heart of this meltdown, this emergency that is happening on this beach area to all these people in a way that is unnerving and really realistic. in this way it is like jaws, where you feel this is a big and dangerous problem we have with people being in danger of their lives.

it puts you there in the massacre part of this film in the last about 30 minutes. i've never seen anything like the massacre that happens in this last part of this film. it is on a movie scale that i've never seen before. i've never seen so many people getting chewed apart, body parts half there and 100 people mangled and half their body being ripped apart.

and all of this part is done in the most realistic way that i've ever seen in a horror film. all the cries, all the noises of pain, all the sounds of them trying to get away from the piranhas.

did you actually watch the joke that is the black christmas remake? my gosh what a fucking horrible movie and it shits no the original by being horribly bad which is horrible and inexcusable. it's basically just a i know what you did last summer kind of movie, well that's what it looks like the in trailer anyway.

i cant' believe andrea martin stooped so low as to act in this movie when she was in the original film. she lost all my respect by acting in the remake.

did you like the texas chainsaw massacre remake or the i spit on your grave remake or the the last house on the left remake?

lukejbarnett

I agree with all of that. However, the studios and producers that are raking in all of the cash don't care. They just want to see profit so all of the classics seem to be getting remade these days. Also, a lot of young people might think the original films are outdated and prefer a "modern" version of said film.

Thankfully, Jaws is one classic that has never been remade but I wouldn't put it past someone to try to remake it someday.

then the hills have eyes remake shouldn't have ever been made.

I read somewhere that Wes Craven preferred the remake to his own original film. Go figure. I thought the Hills remake was pretty good but it was completely unnecessary. I feel the same way about the Dawn of the Dead remake - the running zombies really pissed me off though. (Apparently, Romero didn't like the running zombies either.)

now what did you think of piranha(2010) which was directed by the same director who directed the remake of the hills have eyes, alexandre aja? my gosh this film is amazing. even if it's a remake of one of my all time favorite films piranha (1978)directed by joe dante i would be ok with that bc this film piranha(2010) is technically one of the best horror films and films ever made.

I've never seen the remake. I'm surprised that you like it though. After all, it is a remake… Maybe I'll check it out someday.

did you actually watch the joke that is the black christmas remake?

Hell no!

i cant' believe andrea martin stooped so low as to act in this movie when she was in the original film.

Maybe she needed the work.

did you like the texas chainsaw massacre remake or the i spit on your grave remake or the the last house on the left remake?

TCM remake was tolerable but unnecessary and NOTHING like the great original film in terms of atmosphere or outright terror. I'd rate it maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10.

I've never seen the I Spit on Your Grave remake (the original was enough…it was such a nasty, mean-spirited film) or Last House remake. I did see The Crazies remake though..it was decent.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

just cuz some producer wants money so they let a person remake a classic that there is no way a remake can be made better is wrong.

it's the worst part of hollywood and the movie industry. and it's such a bad thing for a movie producer and movie company to do, to let people remake a classic bc they think the young audience needs a movie to be more modern this is such a copout and so delusional, it's not a valid reason to remake a classic film.

it doesn't give them the right to remake the princess bride for instance.

running zombies? this is the worst thing ever in a movie. i'm a horror movie traditionalist so i value and respect slow walking zombies. running zombies is so wrong also on a fear and suspense gaining way to the audience.

i really think it's sad if wes craven liked the remake of his the hills have eyes more than his film. his film is a classic horror film of the highest order. there is no horror film more respected or is more legendary than it is.

well i read that craven produced the hills have eyes remake and approved of the decision to have the director of the great french film haute tension, alexandre aja to direct the remake.

then again preferred might not necessarily mean craven thought the remake is a better film than his original film it might just mean he likes the remake more than this original film.

do you know they freaking made a remake of one of the most respected and legendary horror films ever made in suspiria even? now this is blasphemy. man if they can make a remake of this horror film no film is sacred, no film is off limits for remake.

well you caring to think from writings i've wrote to you about me being a horror movie traditionalist is very sweet to me and makes me feel so good inside. also i love that you are surprised that i loved a remake of a classic film and a cherished film to me in piranha(1978).

so you're surprised bc i told you i love the '80s friday the 13th films more than any of these films made after the '80s bc i'm a f the 13th purist?

piranha(2010) is so epically and legendarily great and classic that it's required viewing by you and i've never seen the violence and carnage and ways of making you very disturbed in the massacre part of this film that happens in the last 30 min. of this film. also it's a perfect film and one of the best horror films made since 2010.

it's in the top 5 for sure. it's also one of them most effective horror films made since 2010 in making you feel fear and dread and bleakness. no hope for our lives and our community.

now are you going to watch this film?

i love how you said hell no to watching the crap fest black christmas remake they didn't even have the decency and respect to the original to call it black christmas, they called it black xmas which is such a fucking cop out, let's just bow down to the liberal idiot us government and society.

by the way this remake is one of the worst kinds of examples of a bad movie: it has a bunch of girl models running around screaming and trying to get away from a killer. i hate it when actresses in movies look like girl models, they look too beautiful to be a real person who you can relate to.

needed the work? that's not a reason to ever make a movie. just retire if you can't get work. what martin did was deplorable unforgivable, and disrespectful to the original film and to herself she sold out.

exactly one of the main problems with remaking tcm the way they did is it doesn't have the gritty and irreplaceable look and feel of a documentary almost like a snuff film look and feel that the original film has.

i heard someone say the tcm(1974) feels like it was directed by a madman.

ok oh are you so conservative and so innocent and unseasoned a horror movie watcher that you couldn't handle a film like i spit on your grave? i'm being funny not being mean but i just can't believe you were so offended by this film? you are talking about this film like its' an abomination and should have never been made like it's appalling or something? like it's immoral or unethical.

why is this film bad in a moral or ethical way to you? there are a lot of movies like this movie a rape revenge horror movie why did this one go too far to you?

was it the 9 minute first rape scene? or the fact that they don't just rape her once but come back and gang rape her again? i mean what the fuck was that about? geez there is exploitation and sexploitation but this is just crude and seems like overkill. at least the director made the scenes not glamourous and not leering, and ugly and raw and realistic.

I agree, though Nightmare City (1980) is the exception and I'm not sure if they're really zombies or just infected people in that film.

do you know they freaking made a remake of one of the most respected and legendary horror films ever made in suspiria even? now this is blasphemy. man if they can make a remake of this horror film no film is sacred, no film is off limits for remake.

Yes, I heard about it. Doubt I'd ever watch it. I can't see how anyone could make a better version of Argento's classic horror film! Speaking of Argento, I did watch Argento's Dracula (2012) recently and enjoyed it even if it isn't one of his great films. Asia Argento does some nude scenes in it. I always thought she was a hottie.

piranha(2010) is so epically and legendarily great and classic that it's required viewing by you and i've never seen the violence and carnage and ways of making you very disturbed in the massacre part of this film that happens in the last 30 min. of this film. also it's a perfect film and one of the best horror films made since 2010.

Maybe. You make it sound very interesting.

ok oh are you so conservative and so innocent and unseasoned a horror movie watcher that you couldn't handle a film like i spit on your grave? i'm being funny not being mean but i just can't believe you were so offended by this film? you are talking about this film like its' an abomination and should have never been made like it's appalling or something? like it's immoral or unethical.

No, I don't think it's immoral or anything like that. It's just mean-spirited. Besides the brutal rape scenes, they made one of the rapists a retarded guy (or "slow" person, to be polite) for crying out loud! That's pretty mean-spirited if you ask me.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

so 2 of my friends have different opinions on re-animator. one said it's a zombie movie and the other said it's not a zombie movie. so what is it? zombie movie or not zombie movie? i never thought of it as a zombie movie. i mean zombies to me are not people revived by a doctor but people who come back from an oil spill or a meteor or from voodoo.

when you said infected people it reminded me a of a splendid cult film called street trash which i finally watched recently. have you ever watched this great and classic film? everyone has to respect and be in awe of this film bc no matter if you like to or not it's amazing just how far they went with grossness and just a "whatever" spirit attitude.

this movie goes not just past the lines of decency and grossness it goes way over these lines.

this movie is so sick and twisted and so over the top with it's violence and human melting scenes that you have to marvel at it's sheer balls, ingenious ideas of what the effects are going to be and look like, and the ideas of the story and characters and the improvisation of the things that they did in this movie. and put in this movie given it's obviously really low budget.

they didn't care at all about taste or being classy, they just said here's our movie deal with it. which is the best way to make a movie.

by the way if you haven't watched this movie you can watch it like i did on you tube in HD for free. just look up street trash full movie.

she'll never stop making nudity scenes which kind of makes her a slut but also is kind of pathetic i mean if in 2012 she did it at 35 then it's like dude when are you going to stop showing nudity in movies? also she looked pretty used and abused and worn out, weathered and old pretty looking way back in 2002 in a movie she showed nudity in which kind of felt autobiographical.

i can't remember the name of the movie but if she looked pretty bad and pretty old looking 20 years ago she looked really bad in 2012, 10 years later. don't know how her dad can make a nudity scene with her in his movie. every time he filmed her me must have closed his eyes. can you imagine how gross and uncomfortable that would be to see your daughter's tits as an adult?

it turns out asia argento is a horrible person. she raped a kid who was like 25 years old when she was like 40 years old. so i have zero respect for her as a person now and for as long as i don't hear anything to refute this.

hey you know you can watch piranha(2010) on this website. just go to it's page and it will show all the video watching links on this website. then you just click play on one of them and it will play the movie without commercials and uncut.

and you of course no coming from me a traditionalist '80s horror movie fan that you have to make a very well made and revolutionary, ground breaking film to make me really impressed by your film if your horror film was made in the '00s to now so for me to say this about piranha(2010) means i was really impressed by this film bc it really is an amazingly great and classic film.

you can say whatever you like about it but one thing you can't say is you were not entertained and you were not blown away by it's carnage the most realistic special effects and suspense.

so please can you watch piranha(2010) for me?

asia argento is one of the most beautiful girls who have ever lived. she was so painfully beautiful in xxx that it was extremely hard to for me to look at her eyes in this movie and she is also amazingly beautiful in the new rose hotel.

but aren't horror movies all about being mean spirited and wild and free with violence and carnage and aren't horror movies all about pushing the envelope of what is accepted in society and to show things that are ugly and that can't be shown in other genres of film? aren't horror movies the most free form of expression in film?

by the way when you described i spit on your grave you reminded me of the retard brother characters in mother's day(1980) sadly another horror film that was wrongly and unnecessarily remade. :( now this is a great film, not sure it's a classic film though. i've only watched it 1 time. it had just enough originality and uniqueness to make it a great film that isn't just another generic friday the 13th kind of movie.

have you ever watched mother's day(1980)?

what's mean spirited about a rapist being a retarded guy?

i read online that one of the rape scenes goes on for like 4 minutes or something insane like that? why do we need a rape scene in a horror movie like this movie to go on for 4 minutes? also doesn't the director like leer at her naked body in a very dirty old man, perverse way? like he's a peeping tom and getting off sexually from gratifying himself on her nude body being exploited by these guys?

funny though how the girl who plays the main girl is the real life sister of diane keaton. camille keaton is her name. so while sis was out making great art films like the godfather her sister was floundering in a sick, dehumanizing, and degrading to girls, and exploitive to girls movie.

so you thought the rape scenes were exploitive and classless and pointless in the context of the kind of movie it is?

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

so 2 of my friends have different opinions on re-animator. one said it's a zombie movie and the other said it's not a zombie movie. so what is it? zombie movie or not zombie movie?

Not a zombie film.

when you said infected people it reminded me a of a splendid cult film called street trash which i finally watched recently. have you ever watched this great and classic film?

Haven't seen it but I've heard of it.

it turns out asia argento is a horrible person. she raped a kid who was like 25 years old when she was like 40 years old.

That's not rape. And she was a hot 40 years old! It depends on what you find attractive, I guess. In general, I've always preferred women in their thirties and forties even when I was in my twenties. I'm sure the 25 year old she "raped" enjoyed it (but wasn't he younger than 25?)

but aren't horror movies all about being mean spirited and wild and free with violence and carnage and aren't horror movies all about pushing the envelope of what is accepted in society and to show things that are ugly and that can't be shown in other genres of film? aren't horror movies the most free form of expression in film?

Mean-spirited? Not necessarily.
Violence and carnage work in some films but not in others. I prefer atmosphere and suspense over violence and carnage.
Horror films are often very conservative in that they follow a set pattern. Take slasher films, for example. So many of them use the same formula and very rarely stray from that formula. Therefore, I wouldn't say that they're "the most free form of expression in film".

Filmmakers like Cronenberg and Argento are exceptions though, they made some true art; their films often strayed beyond the typical horror movie plot and formula. Surrealist filmmakers like David Lynch are another example of this. "Free form of expression" is not limited to any one genre. Often, it's the films that fall outside of any known genre that are the "freest" ones.

have you ever watched mother's day(1980)?

Yes, it was OK.

what's mean spirited about a rapist being a retarded guy?

It just adds an extra bit of unpleasantness to the film, I guess.

Why make him retarded to begin with? (Granted, all of the rapists were kinda retarded in that film anyway…lol)

so you thought the rape scenes were exploitive and classless and pointless in the context of the kind of movie it is?

No, they belong in the movie but it's an admittedly ugly movie. People can watch it if they want. I have no problem with such a film existing.

I just don't know if I'd consider it to be a true horror film or not. I'd say the same thing about modern 'torture porn' films.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

a man can never be raped by a woman: you know i thought you were going to say that in response to what i said: and that is very ignorant. she raped him, i read about it online i mean why would there be any man who people found out got raped if it didn't happen?

you know how hard it is for a woman to tell anyone she was raped by a man? it's about 100 times more hard for a man to admit he was raped by a woman. in fact it's so hard that this is one of the extremely small amount of times i've ever heard of a woman raping a man. so it happened.

i read someone online say you know how common it is for a woman to rape a man its very common in a relationship even. think about it men almost never would admit they were raped by a woman bc it means them seem so weak physically and confidence wise.

here's one way it can happen: when a man is asleep she gets on top of him and rapes him. he never gave her consent bc he was asleep, that's rape. also it could happen in a time when a man is to tired or doesn't feel like having sex and his gf does so she coerces him into it even though he doesn't want to, that's rape.

so it happens frequently and often. just bc a man hardly ever admits to being raped by a woman doesn't mean it never happens.

what makes re-animator not a zombie film? i never thought of it as a zombie film maybe bc i like it bc i hardly ever like zombie films.

even worse then that she raped a kid under 25 and even worse then that she was with a guy in a sexual way who was under 25 when she was 40. what a horrible person she is.

now i now that horror films are the most free form of expression in films bc i just heard one of the experts on horror films say this in the doc. i told you abut called in search of darkness and bc i know it's true bc i've watched a lot of horror films and other genres of films.

she said you can get away with so many taboos that you cant' get away with, show in other genres of film. that's why horror films are so great bc they are this nothing is forbidden kind of film. you can let your freak flag high in this kind of film. that's why i love horror films bc they show weird people doing weird things and they are all about being different and weird and that is why they are the most fun kind of movie that there is to me.

ok? ok? it was awesome! mother's day was a treat for me. now i'm not going to sit here and praise it and say it's the best horror film or even slasher film ever made bc it's not that great of a film. but it's more transgressive and bold and brave than most slasher films and horror films.

it's these things bc the extent it went in showing how mean and depraved and cruel these wacko retarded brothers are in a serious and realistic way. there's no winking at the camera or campy scenes of humor in the form that are in the friday the 13th films, no these guys are dangerous and the horror is stark and realistic and unnerving in this film.

i brought it back to scarecrow video and told the guy who put his staff pick sticker on it that it wasn't a good movie but after thinking about it more, i realize it is a great film. again it was a film that eli roth loves so i thought i would be a classic film.

now this is a free expression film. it's one of them most sexist an misogynist against girls movie ever made. which is one of the many reasons i love it.

the main reason i love it is it brings back the feelings and memories i have of watching the friday the 13th from the '80s. it looks, sounds, and feels like in atmosphere the first 5 friday the 13th films.

i also love the pain and torture they put that girl through. nothing please me more than watching a girl get tortured in a slasher film.

about i spit on your grave: why not make him retarded? i don't understand why you have a moral problem with making a rapist retarded?

by the way how can you love the film the last house on the left(1972) which is about a guy who raped a girl but yet have a problem with a retarded guy raping a girl in i spit on your grave?

oh, so you think i spit on your grave is a film without merit bc it's an exploitation film?

even worse then that she raped a kid under 25 and even worse then that she was with a guy in a sexual way who was under 25 when she was 40. what a horrible person she is.

What's wrong with a guy under 25 being with a woman of 40? I see no problem with that at all. (18 is the age of consent in most places, so it's perfectly legal.) When I was in my early twenties I was in a relationship with a woman in her late thirties and the time we spent together was great. (Our relationship ended when she decided that our age differences were just too great- I disagreed, of course.)

Personally, I would love to be raped by Asia Argento (at any age) and I'm sure many other guys would too. That said, yes, it was wrong for her to force herself on him esp. if he was underage (he was 17, actually, which in some places is legal age).

what makes re-animator not a zombie film? i never thought of it as a zombie film maybe bc i like it bc i hardly ever like zombie films.

I like the film but I never considered it to be a zombie film.

Lovecraft's original story Herbert West-Reanimator was meant to be a parody of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

i also love the pain and torture they put that girl through. nothing please me more than watching a girl get tortured in a slasher film.

I Spit On Your Grave ripped off Last House on the Left. That's plain to see. I believe that the filmmakers tried to "outdo" Last House by making their film even more extreme and unpleasant. Hence, the rape scenes in I Spit On Your Grave are longer and more brutal than the rape scene in Last House and making one of the characters retarded was like the icing on the cake of bad taste.

Whereas Last House on the Left has artistic merit and was somewhat original when it was released in 1972 (it was a retelling of Bergman's film The Virgin Spring), I Spit On Your Grave merely regurgitates the formula of Last House without having any of its artistic intent or substance. It's a mere imitator. What makes it "different" than Last House is that its violence is more extreme and its intent is more cynical and nihilistic.

As I said before, there's nothing wrong with that. It's fine with me that such a film exists (and there's certainly an audience for it) but I don't see much (if any) artistic merit in such a film.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

bc she was way too old to be with a guy under 25 when she is 40. you can't do that. it's immoral and wrong ethically. it' also wrong for a guy 40 to get with a girl 25. it's robbing and stealing youth so to speak.

and this never works anyway and it's pointless and futile to try to make it work. it never works bc when 2 people are 15 years apart in age and these ages are 25 and 40 there is too much difference in lifestyles for them to stay together.

are you 12? how can you be so blase and ignorant and immature and naive as to say you'd love to be raped by a girl? you don't know what rape is i guess. rape is the worst thing that can happen to a person. it literally takes years for a girl to get over it and most girls never get over it, no matter if it happened 20 years ago even.

oh so as long as you are of legal age in a country, at 17 it's ok to rape a guy?

you didn't answer my question: what about re-animator makes it not a zombie film?

what did you mean by "uhoh" when replying to my writing: i also love the pain and torture they put that girl through. nothing please me more than watching a girl get tortured in a slasher film.

why is making a character retarded who raped a girl in bad taste? it's just a disability that a person has how is that in bad taste?

so i spit on your grave(1978) is porn is what you are saying right? bc it's intent is to sexually arouse instead of to be there for story purposes or realistic purposes or artistic purposes right?

lukejbarnett

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

it' also wrong for a guy 40 to get with a girl 25. it's robbing and stealing youth so to speak.

Nonsense. If she wants to have sex with the 40 year old guy, there's nothing wrong with it. Now you're being a prude.

are you 12? how can you be so blase and ignorant and immature and naive as to say you'd love to be raped by a girl? you don't know what rape is i guess. rape is the worst thing that can happen to a person. it literally takes years for a girl to get over it and most girls never get over it, no matter if it happened 20 years ago even.

Are you 12? You just said bestiality is OK in the other post.

I'm being facetious when I say that I'd love to be raped by Asia Argento. I obviously find her attractive and I certainly wouldn't kick her out of my bed. Being raped by her might be an amazing experience though. Who knows if the 17 year old she had sex with wanted it or not? I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't want it if he's a straight male.

Obviously, I'm anti-rape. I don't believe that a person has a right to force himself or herself on someone else sexually - and that includes humans forcing themselves on animals, so stop pretending to have the moral high ground (" rape is the worst thing that can happen to a person. it literally takes years for a girl to get over it and most girls never get over it, no matter if it happened 20 years ago even") while you advocate animal rape.

you didn't answer my question: what about re-animator makes it not a zombie film?

Because it's not a zombie film imo. That's what makes it not a zombie film! When I think of zombies, I think of the mindless shuffling flesh-hungry living dead in Dawn of the Dead or the mindless voodoo-created living dead servants in White Zombie. Reanimator deals with reanimated corpses that are anything but mindless! Hence, I hesitate to label them zombies.

Some people say 28 Days Later isn't really a zombie film because it's about infected people not the living dead. Others beg to differ, of course.

It's all a matter of opinion.

what did you mean by "uhoh" when replying to my writing: i also love the pain and torture they put that girl through. nothing please me more than watching a girl get tortured in a slasher film.

I mean exactly that: "uhoh". I'm responding to what you said with an emoji because I'm at a loss for words. I've nothing else to say on the subject.

why is making a character retarded who raped a girl in bad taste? it's just a disability that a person has how is that in bad taste?

I felt bad for the guy to be honest. He was forced into going along with it by his friends and then they expected him to finish her off but he didn't have the guts to kill her (or maybe he just wasn't immoral enough?) so he left her there and she eventually came through. Then she took out her revenge on the rapists, she killed all of them - one by one - including the retarded fellow who actually spared her life. I don't know if I approved of his execution or not. The others absolutely deserved what they got though.

so i spit on your grave(1978) is porn is what you are saying right? bc it's intent is to sexually arouse instead of to be there for story purposes or realistic purposes or artistic purposes right?

It's exploitation and it's also "revenge horror", I guess. I've seen the film a couple of times so I'm not denying that it's a well-made film. A part of me is still disgusted by it though.

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

a prude or a traditionalist or an old fashioned person? my mom believes that if a girl is 25 and the guy she with is 50 it's wrong bc their lifestyles are too different so it will never work so what's the point?

it is ok. there's nothing wrong with fucking a horse if you're a girl i mean it doesn't say in the bible oh don't fuck a horse so if god is ok with it i am too. now watching a porn of it?…

who knows if the 17 yr old wanted it or not? we know! bc they put the story out on the internet she got in trouble for it legally so yes we know he was raped by her.

and to say you would enjoy being raped by her is really naive and stupid and ignorant. being raped is never good or ok.

you are one of the stupid people who put animals above humans i see. these are the worst people, the people who get so up in arms about animal abuse of any kind and are against making clothing out of animals who are already dead and won't ever get over someone like michael vick for killing dogs cruelly. people who are too sensitive when to comes to animals.

never understood people who are too into their dogs and cats to the point of putting them above family and friends as far as taking care of their pets by feeding them and taking them to the vet and doing all sorts things before they take care of their husband or boyfriend.

there is nothing wrong with a girl having sex with a horse or a dog. do you think a dog or a horse feels pain from this? and no this is not rape regardless of the fact that they aren't saying yes or showing yes.

well uhoh makes me think something is bad about what i feel about that. uh oh is a way of saying something bad is happening something that could be someone is in trouble maybe.

yeah i read online that when you watch i spit on your grave she goes so far beyond what they did to her that you've left with a bad feeling about what she did to them. you aren't happy or pleased you are sad and disgusted bc she killed them in such horribly violent ways and even in dehumanizing ways.

i love how you said a part of you is disgusted by it. a girl would be disgusted by it you know not saying this is what you are like in feeling this way but a girl would have this reaction she would be aghast at what she watched bc it's an assault on being a girl.

i love how you said it's a well made film. i mean you can't deny it's a great film. bc it's so artistic and gritty and unflinching. its shocking and it accomplishes exactly what it set out to accomplish which is to make every viewer think and feel about the things that happened to the people in this film in deep ways. to make a big emotional impact on the viewer. it has balls and very few films have balls.

but is the director just doing it to entertain as a cheap thrill at the expense of the girl getting degraded on film or does he care bout the issue of women's rights in america and the world is this an empowering movie for women?

Re: is the stepford wives(1975) a cult movie?

it is ok. there's nothing wrong with fucking a horse if you're a girl i mean it doesn't say in the bible oh don't fuck a horse so if god is ok with it i am too. now watching a porn of it?…

The Bible doesn't say pedophilia and necrophilia are wrong either but I'm pretty sure that they are. And who cares what The Bible says anyway (unless you're a Bible-thumping weirdo)? Do you really believe Noah built an ark and had two of every kind of animal on it? Do you really believe that in the beginning there was a Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and a snake? Hmm. What about the dinosaurs that predated humanity? Where do they fit into Biblical history? That's right, they're never mentioned in it. The Bible is a collection of contradictory ideas, dubious historical accounts and Jewish fairy tales. While there are some decent moral lessons in it, I'll pass on believing that it's the inerrant word of God or that it's anything more than a collection of fables.

who knows if the 17 yr old wanted it or not? we know! bc they put the story out on the internet she got in trouble for it legally so yes we know he was raped by her.

No, we don't know the full truth. He had something to gain from it ($380,000, I believe, settled out of court). This "kid" is a money-grubber who got the best lay of his life. The lucky bastard. I don't feel bad for him…. at….all.

there is nothing wrong with a girl having sex with a horse or a dog. do you think a dog or a horse feels pain from this?

Bad trolling, btw… if that's what it is.

but is the director just doing it to entertain as a cheap thrill at the expense of the girl getting degraded on film or does he care bout the issue of women's rights in america and the world is this an empowering movie for women?

I think it's like Cannibal Holocaust in that it pretends to be a 'message' film but it's really just exploitation.
