The trend has been such that as time moves on, life generally improves. In terms of comfort, safety, technology, freedom of thought and action.

It is possible, however, that we have or will reach an inflection point. Freedom of expression is generally unparalleled relative to any prior point in history, however our technology has somewhat cut the other way. A material portion of our social interactions take place online. Social media now makes what we say somewhat public and difficult to take back. For this reason, it inadvisable to share political opinions with friends via social media. Given the current socially distanced climate, people may feel discouraged from voicing their opinion at all.

What will probably happen In the next 50-100 years is we will have our thoughts become less private. Maybe independent thought will be compromised. Google for instance offers search suggestions and manipulates top search engine results; everyone uses google to search things. If we make decisions based on quick google search results, our thought patterns can be manipulated by corporate enterprises. Google is literally doing this now and will only get better at it.

So, 500 years out the world will be so markedly different from what it is now or was 500 years ago. The two options are not like options. Maybe 50 years in the future would be more of an equivalent alternative to 500 years in the past. Honestly, we might not even be having sex or have physical bodies in 500 years. Social interaction via online is far less healthy than in person, ignoring covid; our brains release chemicals incentivizing in person contact. Science will no doubt be able to remove this barrier through Innovations in VR. What we think of as “human” might not exist at all relatively soon.

This is a tough decision but I can’t in good conscience decide to live in a future where my penis may be removed.

Cheerio.

Now, being that I’ve decided to live in the 15th century, I can really have some fun.

With my rudimentary knowledge of mathematics, science, and history, I will dazzle my fellow serfs with knowledge about things to cum. Hailing from eastern lands, I shall develop a reputation as a super wizard, capable of predicting events that will come to pass and able to manifest magical creations people of my time could not possibly have imagined.

The church would attempt to hunt me with their pitiful inquisitors. No matter. My acolytes will grow in number rapidly. For while Jesus was born of a woman some 1,500 years ago, the masses have suffered their entire lives for 20-30 years, always looking to the stars for salvation. I will capitalize on their suffering; they demand a second coming of their lord, but I, Vlad, and the true LORD. They will see me as their savior, their own personal Jesus.

The pope will attempt to rally his laughable forces but the monarchs of Europe will soon fall under my sway as well. Or they won’t and the mob will rip them apart. Should they decide on violence, I will orchestrate mass peasant uprisings across Europa. Perhaps I will take a page from Robespierre’s book and we will see heads falling a few centuries earlier. Of course unlike the dotarded Robespierre, I will be seen as a divine savior; a modern day Pharaoh.

As the monarchies of Europe fall to the divine might of the Holy Salient Empire, and my alchemists develop gunpowder far more advanced than should be possible for the 15th century, I shall command my servants to take to the seas and travel west. We will then annihilate and enslave the native populations in America. My forces will travel south and do the same there. We will push to the East and all who do not join us will die.

And, as matter cannot be created or destroyed, so too will my conscience live on. Through conscientious child rearing, i will ensure my bloodline holds my ambitions to dominate humanity. We will develop the Google. We will determine the thought patterns of future humanity. And so, 500 years from the 15th century will begin to look a lot like 500 years from the 21st century. And another you will pose this same question around 1750. And another me will answer along the same lines as I did. And on and on it will go until the universe itself implodes.

Cheerio.

Not far enough ahead in the future if you ask me. I would rather be born in the 27th century.
