Someone left this comment:
If you are a law enforcement officer, and you can't tell the difference in smell between a decomposing human body and sewage, then you ain't no cop. You are a waste of life in a uniform taking reports and taking a job away from somebody who is real po-lice.
Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
That person needs to be blindfolded with canisters of both things put in front of his nose and see if he can tell the difference.
I dunno anything about the police academy, not even the movies, but I would be surprised if they have any kind of smell class or anything like that.
Just because they are cops means they know every smell in the world???

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
Maybe they assumed an experienced cop would've smelled a lot of corpses or a lot of sewage?
Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
This reminds me of the case where there were these two bros in NYC in an earlier time where they were crazy hoarders of newspapers in their apt.
One of them died, and if I remember right, it took awhile before he was found.

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
The brothers were a result of inbreeding.

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
It doesn't look like it:
Homer Lusk Collyer and Langley Wakeman Collyer were born in 1881 and 1885 respectively. They were born to a Manhattan doctor, and lived in tenements for the early part of their lives, while their father was still in medical school. When their father started to work at Bellevue Hospital, the brothers moved with their family to the brownstone at 2078 Fifth Avenue in Harlem. Both brothers attended Columbia University, where Homer studied maritime law while Langley studied engineering and chemistry.
When their parents separated in 1919, Homer and Langley, who had never married or lived alone, chose to stay with their mother in the Fifth Ave apartment. A few year later, in 1923, their father died, and left them with his cache of medical instruments and books. Their mother died six years later, and after her passing, the brothers continued to live in the brownstone they had shared with her.

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
The Collyer brothers were sons of Herman Livingston Collyer (1857–1923), a Manhattan gynecologist who worked at Bellevue Hospital, and his first cousin,[6] Susie Gage Frost Collyer (1856–1929), a former opera singer.

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
You must have gotten that from another sauce.
So you think their inbreeding had something to do with their hoarding habits or with one of them going blind?

I wonder why he killed himself and why in the Christmas closet?
Did he not want his wife to find him right away and to give her quite a shock when she did months later?

I don't know, the whole thing is weird. I don't think you can apply any logic to it.
Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
And I wanna know if she was able to carry on with putting up the decorations and with Christmas!

Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
If she did, the decorations must've stunk. Although she did say they were in a "tote." If she means a plastic container with a lid, maybe the smell didn't go through.
Re: Woman finds her husband's decomposed body in with the Christmas decorations
I just know that it would effect me to where I would be creeped out that I would not want to put them up that year and it would give me a sad or bad feeling about Christmas.
It would take me awhile to get over it.

Yeah, I can't imagine she said, "Oh good, now that my husband's body is gone, I can get back to making my house look all Christmassy."
