During pre-production Corman decided that a creature from Venus would have to be low and squat because of Venus' far greater gravity. Which for a Corman film is quite smart thinking. However before filming the first scene with the monster Beverly Garland kicked the monster saying So YOU'RE gonna conquer the World, eh?"
Corman saw this and decided then and there that from then on the monster in his films always had to be bigger than the leading lady.

Unfortunately for Corman's logic, Venus' gravity is actually only around 87% of Earth's. The atmospheric pressure, on the other hand, is over 90 times greater
