Late Night with Seth Meyers : Why is this not new on Fridays?

Anyone know?

Why quibble about Friday? Every other month, they're in repeats.

I think he mentioned he does stand up on Fridays. im almost 100% sure.

It's the old Letterman schedule. Letterman never had a show on Fridays because there used to be show called Friday Night videos, before basic cable was in everybody's homes, and music videos were a new big thing. Conan had to do 5 days a week, but in retrospect, that was a really bad idea, as he needed the extra time in the first year to get a hold of the show. If you notice, he now does four. Fallon would have done six if you asked him to, he had so much energy.

Four days probably kept the costs lower at the beginning and the quality up. Considering Meyers' energy level is very different than Fallon's or Conan's, I think it was a good move. And ratings are always bad for late Friday nights. The problem is you lose a lot of potential teens who can stay up late that night. They're the ones that saved Conan. Seth Meyers show is definitely an older Demo than Fallon's or Conan's start at late night.

I'm fairly certain I can recall seeing new Dave episodes on Friday as a kid

Letterman only had reruns on Fridays during the summer; the rest of the year, he did five shows a week, although the last two were both taped on Thursday.

I think its a cost thing. James Corden does repeats on Friday as well. But then none of the late night shows tape on Fridays, the 11.30 shows just does 2 shows on Thursday...

Budgetary. Myers is a repeat, Corden is a repeat, Kimmel is a repeat. It's the least watched night of the week for talk shows, so they figured save money by airing a rerun. Though it's odd that an 11:30 show like Kimmel only does a 4 day week schedule considering the competition is 5.

"Jesus, does anyone?"

A lot of shows like this do that for some reason.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
