Why is there more leeway for baseball stadiums and no others?

Football, basketball and hockey ice will all have the same measurements for length and width of the playing surface.
But not baseball.
They all have different lengths and dimensions of the outfield walls and how long and tall they are.
Why is this?
Why isn't there a set standard for all baseball diamonds?

Re: Why is there more leeway for baseball stadiums and no others?

Because the distance to the wall doesn't affect the outcome that much. Both teams have to play on the same field and the game is played the same. If you have ever watched a football game on a smaller field it is a completely different game. The same is true with basketball. Spacing changes everything in those sports.
