Re: Why didn't Clovers have a story?
Some of the Toros were main characters and the Clovers were supporting characters. Main characters usually get a backstory. Supporting characters usually do not.
Re: Why didn't Clovers have a story?
Simply put, the film wasn't about them. It was a character study of Torrence Shipman; her challenges to leadership, her romance with the bookish nerdy-hot-dude, and how she deals with both parents and an incorrigible little brother.
Torrence; "Aron, is not gay! He's just ... busy!"
Brother; "Yeah! Busy scamming on guys!"
At which point Dunst gives the best angry expression in the whole film as she tears out the video game consoles power, destroying it in the process.
I love that scene for some reason...and the video game the little brother is playing.
Happy Saturnalia

Re: Why didn't Clovers have a story?
They should have had a scene featuring then talking about the squad, maybe even a sub plot about them not being able to afford a trip to nationals then finally making it and coming in first or something...oh wait...
When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

Why didn't Clovers have a story?
I think it would have added more to the story altogether and having the audience on the fence on whether or not they wanted the Torros or the Clovers to win the competition. WOuld have beenmuch more nail bitten in my opinion.
I'm too cool for a signature bitches!
