Comic Books and Comic-Con : Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

I'm going go with Batman since he had no superpowers and he had to use his brain and martial arts to go through the thugs and rogues gallery of villians he had to face.

Superman for the public eye, then go Batmanning when it's time to get serious. Only way to get things done.

And THAT is where babies come from.

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Superman. He inspires hope

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Batman easy. He's actually American. I suppose Superman is legally an American, but so are lots of those Russian mail-order brides after they marry a rich lecherous old freak in a green card scam.
Superman...in his heart though, he's Kryptonian. He should just go back to Krypton!

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

I think Superman represents how America sees itself, but Batman is how America really is.

"Don't you lay a hand on my Sasquatch!"

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Batman for the same reasons.

Volker Flenske: (While torturing David) I don't know why you're doing this to yourself!

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Spiderman represents the Urban Jewish experience in the USA I suppose. I would say if we compare a superhero to the actual history of the country the USA in relation to the broader world? Um... maybe Magneto? Lol I dont know. The USA is a freaking powerful country but neither good nor evil?

So yeah, that's how I feel anyways

To paraphrase the movie Nixon: Superman is who they want to be, Batman is who they are.

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Superman for me better represents America then Batman does, Batman doesn't always do things by the book. His methods and ways getting things done, isn't always law abiding and is seen and is still seen as a vigilante by a lot of people and is seen not always as a good guy but as somebody who should be bought to justice.

Superman on the other hand, fights for Truth and Justice and is more law abiding, and generally does things the right way. He is more regarded and respected by the public as a symbol of hope and light.

Though I would say Superman represents more as a symbol of hope, for the world not just America as he's more universal.

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

We, the people, national and international already disagree on how America is viewed.

"Let's make America great agian." "America is great! Let's make her better." "America, get your asses off of our lands." "America, make this plot of our land your military base and defend our sorry asses."

Harley Quinn best represents America. In love with herself. Crazy in love with the Joker. Loyal to a fault. Loony enough to be unpredictable. And crazy smart enough to do some serious damage.

Superman.

Immigrant comes to this country from somewhere else, adopts the people and ideals as his own, the land as his home, and makes good for himself through his unique talents--something he shares with all people.

I think Superman is the American experience personified.

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

But he was an 'illegal' alien whose refugee status was never vetted until well after he had ingratiated himself.

Maybe DC should investigate this "What if" scenario in our modern political atmosphere towards 'aliens'.

Re: Which superhero best represents America? Superman or Batman?

Neither. Captain America (Steve Rogers, pre-HYDRA brainwashing). The most American of them all. When he didn't like what the government was doing, he was willing to quit twice and do things his way.
