Moon : When Sam…(MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE TWIST)

When Sam…(MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE TWIST)

When Sam 1 woke up after the crash and Sam 2 was there, why did they act like it was no big deal. Instead of being like "Holy Sh!t, WTF is going on!?!", they were just kind of ignoring each other.

Why were they acting like that? Had Sam 2 already figured out that Sam 1 was a clone but has not accepted that he was a clone?

Re: When Sam…(MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE TWIST)

When Sam-2 brings Sam-1 in, he is almost going berserk to Gerty, demanding to know who he is. So he already had his "WTF!?" moment.

But i think when Gerty says that he is "Sam Bell" and "we need to get him to the infirmary", that Sam-2 lets Gerty proceed his protocol and waits to see what happens.
Sam-1 was unconscious, so there wasnt a lot that Sam-2 could get out of him without Gerty's assistance, unless Sam-2 was going to go fully rogue.
Sam-2 was greatly confused of course, but he had probably several hours to come to his senses while Sam-1 was recuperating in the infirmary.

He could have asked Gerty all about it during that time, but Gerty initially did not seem to be very forthcoming, so my guess is that Sam-2 just went with it and tried to find answers along the way, without forcing or disrupting either Gerty or Sam-1 too much.

When Sam-1 wakes up while Sam-2 is there too, Sam-1 asks Gerty "is there someone else in the room?".
He knows that he has been seeing things before the crash, so he cant trust his own instincts anymore, but he chose to lie about it to Gerty before.
Sam-1 already felt like he was going crazy, so he was kinda willing to accept or ignore all the weirdness, but Sam-2 was fresh and fully conscious, he did not accept all the weirdness and was focused on answers.

But when Sam-1 asks Gerty again later after he woke up and saw Sam-2 jumping rope, and Gerty responds the same way, "He is Sam Bell, you are Sam Bell", thats when he breaks down and starts to question his whole identity and life, since he spent 3 years there thinking he was "the one and only". That was Sam-1's "WTF?!" moment.

Sam-2 by that time is probably mainly pissed off at the whole situation and is going over it inside his head.
Sam-1 is not even that much of an asset to him, because Sam-1 is already brainwashed into thinking he is the real Sam.

I would also probably have that disconnect at first with a clone, especially when they look like crap, all sick and unhealthy, something mustve been wrong with them, despite having a similar appearance, it would not immediately feel like family or soulmates etc., i would feel superior to them, not the same as them, because id feel healthy and fine.
The acceptance will come from knowing each other better, which also happened in the movie.

I think Sam-2 did figure out a clone plot, because he clearly knows that he is not the only Sam on the base, but he would feel normal otherwise, so what would your options be?
I think i would assume clones too, because what else can you think of?
Living inside the Matrix? That would go against your nature and nature itself, because having a personality and identity is the focus of Being, one would always assume that they exist and are real, unless proven otherwise.
It would be easier to accept the other Sam as living and existing too, in ways of cloning, both alive and real, but.. a product of some shady lab business eventually.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

Re: When Sam…(MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE TWIST)

Notice that Sam2 is the one who initially does the ignoring. Sam1 actually wants to talk it out fairly quickly.

I think that perhaps the movie was trying to imply that Sam once had a tendency earlier in life to act tough and "cool", holding things in, pretending like they didn't bother him so much, but then it would get to be too much and he would explode. Sam2 acts this way, and Tess refers in a video to Sam having acted that way in the past.

But after 3 years, Sam1 is much more mellow. All of his silly little rituals that he performs throughout the day, including talking to himself, amount to the exact opposite of holding things in like he used to do. He vents, he snarks, he plays jokes on GERTY.
