Re: What's in the air they breathe?

So were they breathing oxygen at almost double the normal partial pressure? What was that liquid air they were breathing?

Re: What's in the air they breathe?

As a kid I watched a show called That's Incredible which had a lot of science stories on it. I recall seeing a mouse submerged in this liquid and it could still breathe.

When the mouse was removed it vomited up the liquid and began breathing air.

I can see it clearly in my mind because I was very impressed. However, I have not heard of it since Abyss.

Re: What's in the air they breathe?

That video was very interesting.

Re: What's in the air they breathe?

So people will not be breathing liquid but there is the possibility of buying underwater mice in pet stores sometime in the future.

Re: What's in the air they breathe?

The difference is that the effects of narcosis from nitrogen is somewhat like mild alcohol intoxication, whereas hydrogen has effects similar to that of LSD when used at great depths

That opens up the possibility that everything in the movie was a hallucinogenic delerium. These different gases and their effects on the human body at extreme depths is interesting.
