I would want it to be equal if I did that. Having a harem seems greedy and one sided.
Another option I'm even more open to is an open relationship, where you're a couple, but can get with other people.

How I used to feel, but it's evolved to I don't need it, but I'm not opposed to it. That's my stance on a lot of things lol. Like my intimate preferences are vanilla, but I'm open to a partner's weird kinks, within reason.

I've had partners, and it is kind of relevant. It's something that's been on the cusp in past relationships. My fwb was poly at one point. My last ex became that after the relationship that she left me for ended.

Historically, we weren't a monogamous species. A lot of our biological urges have us wanting to fuck a bunch of people. It's why divorces and cheating happens.
Not to say one is better for everyone, but I think more people are suited to it than mainstream culture permits.

In an animalistic, purely biological be fruitful and multiply sense, sure. That might be more beneficial to the survival of our species. But if we're talking relationships, it's not a compelling argument for me.
To each their own, obviously. I don't doubt poly 'couples' make it work, but I do question how that's the case if even one party is in love with another. Wouldn't problems arise? I'd think when it works it's because everyone likes each other well enough, likes fucking each other (who doesn't), etc. Borderline friends with benefits type thing.

Well, I wasn't arguing that natural is always better, but not everything in nature is bad. Sometimes suppressing our nature can be harmful. Even with something like our urges towards violence, repression isn't the right way to handle it, but filtering it and redirecting it towards healthy avenues. That's called sublimation.
I don't think it eliminates all the issues you have with monogamy, and maybe creates a few monogamy doesn't have, but it's kind of a to each their own situation. The point we're on now is more about general tendencies, and I think more are suited to it than mainstream norms allow.
