Raw Deal : What I don't get

What I don't get

1. Kaminski goes unofficially undercover on an unsanctioned operation nothing to do with the FBI to avenge the murder of the son of an FBI agent.

2. To do this he blows up the petrol chemical plant likely costing many millions in damages and it would be deemed terrorists did it. His face would be on every news TV channel as the sheriff who died in this. And afterwards, it would clearly come out he did it given it was how he faked his death.

3. He then goes undercover and simply murders everyone at the end in a huge bloodbath that will be all over the press for months and likely kick off a huge gang war.

4. And yet he is seen as the hero by the government and gets his job back with the FBI as a consequence of the above.

Why bother with the whole undercover operation and not just send him in and murder them John Matrix style instead?

Re: What I don't get

The FBI guy probably didn't know he was a psycho who enjoyed killing people. Nothing about the plan was very thought out. I don't think that fire would completely destroy a body so people might not think he was dead. They might assume he blew up the plant and be on the lookout for him. He didn't even memorize the middle name of his cover identity.
