Mulholland Drive : Was it cocaine induced?

Was it cocaine induced?

At the beginning of the film before she puts her head down on the pillow, we hear a long sniff. Could she have been snorting something? If so how do you think this affected the dream reality she found herself in? I feel like a lot of it is an "ego trip" for Diane, which would fit with the effects of a cocaine high, which strongly affects the ego.

Re: Was it cocaine induced?

Does cocaine make you sleep, and create elaborate realities from multiple perspectives?

Re: Was it cocaine induced?

No. But it could make you go insane. I'm pretty sure insanity could do all that. Look at Deadpool.

Re: Was it cocaine induced?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it's hard to sleep under the influence of cocaine.

Re: Was it cocaine induced?

I'm not an expert either, but you can if you're drinking booze with it.

Re: Was it cocaine induced?

No, some movies examine the effects of drugs on the mind and the psychological aspects of them, but this is not one of them, having anything in this movie be a result of drugs would dull the message it actually sends and delegitimization the dream she has for the first part of the film.
