One, Two, Three : Torture Scene

Torture Scene

I think that scene is a all times film comedy´s masterpiece... everything is frightened, except for the music!

Re: Torture Scene

I thought that scene was interesting - it's pretty realistic and harrowing. It's almost as if the movie takes a break to show the reality of the USSR. And you're right, the music adds just the right amount of absurdity.

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

Re: Torture Scene

It was their continual playing of the record 'Itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini' that made Piffl eventually confess to everything.

Really Brian Hyland's hit song wasn't THAT BAD!!!!!

Re: Torture Scene

LOL. No, it wasn´t so bad, but it´s a silly song, and a perfect choice for that scene...

Re: Torture Scene

Terry Teachout just wrote a column in the Wall Street Journal about musical torture and completely failed to mention this scene. I guess I'll have to give him a heads-up.

Re: Torture Scene

To be fair, Piffl didn't crack until those monsters played the record off-center. The sound of Brian Hyland's cheesy song alternately speeding up and slowing down was more than ANYONE could take.

Re: Torture Scene

Actually, I just saw "One, two, three" again on TV tonight, and I'm also very familiar with Brian Hyland's hit version of "Itsy bitsy"(etc.). It really sounded to me like a cover of the hit - different lead singer. Maybe there was some problem using the actual original recording. Nonetheless, funny element for the scene.

Re: Torture Scene

There is a Woody Allen movie,I believe that it was "Bananas", Where someone confesses after being locked in a room with operetta being played continuosly. It was probably inspired by this film.

Re: Torture Scene

During the Waco siege the FBI played Nancy Sinatra's 'These boots are made for walking' at night to disorient the Davidians. Guess they hadn't seen one two three.

Re: Torture Scene

I flew into Belarus about 4 am in the morning and there were the police at immigration with their Soviet style hats and rigid posture. As they poured over our paperwork, I couldn't help feeling the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I think that the officials will be shot if they smile at anyone from the US.
