Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

I wouldn't have told my parents I'd keep it a secret.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

What kind of an idiot would have that kind of money on them and no ID in their wallet? Where was Mr. Stoner's drivers license?

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

THANK YOU! I still can't believe the police weren't like: well he obviously didn't want to keep this safe [no identification -- losing a wallet can happen to anyone] so you guys keep it.

Well, this IS the Brady Bunch. And in Bradyworld, that's dishonest.

I know it is dishonest in our world. I wouldn't keep it. I would feel really bad.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

I knew someone who lost their wallet. Someone called him and said they found it but that there was no money in it. They mailed back the wallet with all the ID, photos, papers etc. The credit cards were already cancelled, so that was not an issue.

It could have been a case where someone else found the wallet, took the money, and left the wallet for someone else to find and call the owner. Or it could have been the same person taking the money and sending the empty wallet back. It wasn't a huge amount of money, probably less than $100.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

On this very topic, this was a recent article in the New York Post about a guy who lost his wallet:

There's something else about this episode too. Here's a video about it.

That is true IMDB can actually ruin watching the old shows for you because you are always subconsciously looking for mistakes or continuity issues with them. I was watching an episode of The Flinstones on YouTube and thanks to my critical eye I was able to pick up on a few subtle mistakes. I did a screen cap of it see if you can catch them-->https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com:443/data.filmboards/images/upload/OrV1Aun.jpg

Well, they also had a Christmas episode. How? Christ wasn't born yet. They are not supposed to even know what Christmas is. It's a cartoon. An animated world, where kids don't have to grow up.

But the Flintstones were a MODERN stone age family. Cars weren't invented yet, either, but they got one. Made of stone and logs, but they got one. Makes me wish the characters had shoes.

Leave it to Beaver had a Christmas show!

It was an episode called 'The Haircut' where the Beave loses his money for a haircut and has Wally cut it for him, which turns out pretty bad. They do what they can to fix it so the Beave can sing at the school's Christmas Pageant.

Very interesting goof with the Flintstones having a Christmas show! I never thought about that as a kid watching it!

me either

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

Pretty good you just missed one. The actress who played Wilma had breast implants done in between seasons and she forgot to have them taped down for the episode since they were no boob jobs in the stone age. It did not make much sense that they could not figure out shoes when they had cars TV sets and even airplanes that flew by strapping cabins to pterodactyls. When they wore Tuxes they had socks on their ankles.

WTF! What the hell was Peter doing?

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

For those who don't know what Peter was doing, he was wiping his hands off. Back when quarterbacks took the snap under center, they would commonly wipe their hands off on the center's legs.

Does taking a snap from under center look silly out of context? Yes.
Does Peter look silly emulating the professionals of the day? Yes.
Are we happy that someone actually noticed this after all these years? Yes.

Another episode which involved sharing.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

When I was a kid I thought that the old man should have used traveler's cheques. They were very popular back in the '70s. They were generally used by people on vacation instead of cash as many businesses accepted them as currency. Their use declined in the '90s as credit cards, debit cards, and automated teller machines became more widely available and easier and more convenient for travelers.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

How naive were The Brady's? If you asked someone if they lost $1,100(nowadays) $6,000 who would say no? Nobody. Too many dishonest people in the world.

Re: The Treasure of Sierra Avenue (1970) - $1,100

but I have to say, if you carry that kind of cash around on you, and you lose it... really?

there is a girl in my friend's second grade' class who 'has to have her phone on her at all times'. my friend is good about this even though we dislike the phones being in school. the girl hands the phone in and gets it back at the end of the day. so come the end of the day Thursday and poof, the phone is gone. I am homeless in the school [I have no room and I teach art interpretation through writing so I desperately need a space to keep some stuff and this friend offered her room] and the teacher and I close the room down and will not leave until we find the phone. we found it in the girl's neighbor's book bag.

we speak to the neighbor quietly and alone and she says us point blank: her phone is pretty and cool. it can get games and mine can't. she knew taking it was wrong and if she had a nicer looking phone that took games stealing this phone wouldn't have even crossed her mind.

so the girl with the phone: not her but her mother: is wrong for having her daughter HAVE to have this fancy phone that gets games with a cute and pretty case ON her at school. like come on! what is with people who are basically trying to trap people into stealing?
