You literally read my mind. I just rewatched it and liked it much more the second time around.

Easily one of Tim Burton's last great movies.

Certainly a Burton classic!

I'd link it in with Big Fish, Beetlejuice and Ed Wood as the top points of his directing career so far.

The sequel to Beetlejuice has me worried it might spoil that equation though

Its writer, Seth Grahame-Smith, has done a couple of fun films that I've enjoyed but I'm worried that the quaintness of the original movie will get lost.

I'll be happy to be wrong on that front though.

I like how it’s a different beast to the stage production. Definitely much more sinister and dramatic, although there’s still black humour under everything.
