Star Wars movies vs Star Trek movies. Which would you rather watch?

as a kid i'd choose Star Wars but as an adult the whole set of Star Trek movies are much more enjoyable than Star Wars. i'm just not into Star Wars anymore

It depends on how much you want to think. You don't want to think very much? Then Star Wars it is. I'm not bashing Star Wars, sometimes when you are all pooped-out, the last thing you want is a movie that makes you think.

You know, your brain uses an amazing amount of energy, that's why it gets harder to think when you are tired.

that's true. Star Trek just has so many better characters than Star Wars. Vader, Dooku, Palpatine and Maul are great but everyone else sucks

To be honest I never was much of a Star Wars man myself (even though I was around when the first three movies were released)and grew up mostly on the grim SF movies of the early 70's where the story or ideas projected were more important than SFX or visuals>During the times that the OT was released I was into far more darker stuff like Alien or Blade Runner or the more big ideas movies like 2001 ASO.I found that TOS fitted that mold better than Star Wars besides the stunning visuals from SW and that the original SW movie (Ep IV ANH)was just a simple a young boy/man goes on an amazing journey.I always liked ep V TESB as it was more my cup of tea because unlike the first movie it went against the grain by showing our heroes not having it their way, that it was an overall more darker movie, and that it dared to take long periods with no big action to flesh out the story and characters. With ROTJ there were already signs on the wall that Lucas might be overdoing it and was turning the franchise into a more kindie-friendly series (the Ewoks).Less said about the PT the better besides that I went to see "Menace" in the cinema on openings weekend and remember coming out of the theatre surprised by the clusterf#ck I've just seen wondering if I've just seen a animated movie/videogame hustled together with bits of boring(and teeth wrenchingly bad)acting set in a play-like setting(like moviemaking 101).

Star Trek as a franchise never had those problems for me because of the many episodes to choose from there will always be something for everyone's tastes. There are episodes that I really liked as a teenager and now I am older I start to appreciate others because my tastes change and things I might have found boring as a kid I now (with the wisdom of years lol)appreciate better after having experienced life for a little longer.Star Trek always had that in it from the beginning and kept that policy throughout the various installments which probably is an explanation for it's longevity.
