Gadgets : Samsung Galaxy Gear

Samsung Galaxy Gear

For those of us who look for specs before design in a device it's safe to say the Galaxy Gear is terrible as a smartwatch competitor but it does offer a glimpse at the future for smartwatchs in general. In my opinion this is what needs to be part of a smart watches specs in order to gain a huge marketshare.

-Cross compatibility with different devices.

Do not make the watch to only work with a specific device or "brand". Allow it to be cross compatible like a Bluetooth headset or a hands free headset for cars. If I have a LG G2 and I buy a Samsung Smart watch I should be able to combine my devices together with no problem.

-Waterproof and Dustproof

Construction workers, cops, doctors, Airline employees, and more are always working in filthy environments that involve chemicals or weather. We should be able to wear our watches without the worry of it getting wet or any damage from dirt/dust.

-2days+ battery life

As a "smart watch" we know that it will have features that connect to phones, tablets, PCs, TVs, and maybe cars. So we need a strong and durable battery that will last us throughout the entire day without having to worry about charging it until we get home.

-GPS

It should use GPS from a satellite much like Tom-tom navigation systems do. No need to have to pay for a data plan or constantly need Wi-Fi to use the GPS.

-Reminders

I believe this is key for workplace environments. We should have reminders which we can set on our phone or tablet to forward them to the smart watch to vibrate and show up on the screen so we don't have to constantly pull out our phones or tablets while driving or at work.
