SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Nicole just grabbed another nomination. Happy that she keeps getting recognition for her truly outstanding performance.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

No big surprise. I'd day the Oscar nod is likely, unless Lion gets shunned alltogether, especially in BP, which it totally deserves.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Great news! 5b4 so well deserved!

Pity the cast of Lion didn't get a nomination for ensemble! I think all the cast did an amazing job.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Yes huge oversight. Neither did La La Land tho, which makes it easier to swallow.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

the Lala land is the total shocker .

I don't think an oscar best picture has ever won without a sag ensemble nomination.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Hopefully that means BP goes to sth else. La La Land is utterfly flawed. Even Jackie is better. I just saw it. As is Arrival, Lion and N. Animals, especially.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

I saw La La Land last night - what a mess that is! How it is getting rave reviews I have no idea! :/

LAST SEEN: La La Land (5/10) / Your Name (10/10) / Nocturnal Animals (8/10)

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Glad you agree. I call it: First World Problems: The Musical. So vapid and lacking in dramatization

Re: SAG AWARDS - Nicole Kidman is nominated for the LION

Oh, I so hope this movie has a Belgian release...

Happy with every nod she gets :).

SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

First of all, I love that Nicole takes risks, likes to experiment and get out of the confort zone, very few people in Hollywood do that these days, that being said, the color is fantastic, really works on her but I think the two parrots are too much.
On another note, I'm very glad the hair is looking much better these past events.

The fashion Police guys will have a ball with that piñata dress!

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I love the dress. It looks great on her. It's a bit over the top but she can pull it off, it's daring. I wish she had worn something green on her neck, some nice emeralds or something like that. I wish she had worn this one at the Oscars.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I will stand by this dress. One of her best dresses she's ever worn, especially in recent years.

I agree about the jewels, I think it needed something across her neck or plunging down. Also get hair should have been loose and little more strawberry.

But still kudos for having the balls to wear that and look like a queen.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

Really like the dress, not a fan of the makeup - her lips look strange whenever they put that light lip colour on her, whereas just the night before the makeup was beautiful with the darker red shade of lipstick :)

LAST SEEN: Split (7/10) / Assassin's Creed (5/10) / A United Kingdom (8/10)

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I get the old Hollywood vibes. Very much agree with that. She looked flawless. As for what the fashion police think i haven't payed attention to them since they employed Kelly Osbourne. Anyway Vogue and Glamour Magazine have listed Nicole as their best dressed, one of their best dressed i should say.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I really like it too. it's pretty outrageous and at first I wasn't sure, but, as you say, it's reminiscent of classical Hollywood: the bold look of 20s Gloria Swanson or 30s Marlene Dietrich and Dolores Del Rio.

The hair doesn't quite suit it though, maybe a small hat or head piece, or some kind of accessory would set it off nicely.

Absolutely. I love the Throwback style. Nicole definitely stood out.

Actually thinking about it i agree. A small hat or head piece would have added to the glamour.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

Franklinblake's Gloria Swanson, Dietrich and 1920,s comparison are very accurate and what I meant about old Hollywood.

Completely agree.

I'm still marveling over the dress, it's a stunning piece of architecture.

Nkitalia posted some pics of her inside the auditorium and it looked gorgeous.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I don't take the Fashion Police squad seriously at all. If at all, Tom + Lorenzo are amazing. I pretty much agree with what they have to say this morning:

Put bluntly: She’s an actress approaching fifty – and we suspect she’d be the first one to point out what a difficult position that puts her in, career-wise and image-wise. She has floundered a bit in recent years on the style front, turning toward looks that sometimes didn’t suit her and sometimes actively made her look terrible. A woman like her, in her position, needs to find and cultivate ways of keeping her image and career fresh. And a woman in that position who looks like her (and by that we mean her pale and ethereal qualities) absolutely needs total boldness in her style choices when she’s posing for pictures. It sets off her looks and coloring really well. Wisely, the rest of her styling is kept quiet, but complementary so as not to fight with the dress.

Is it a lot? Yeah, it’s a lot. But it’s the right kind of “a lot” for her. We doubt this dress would work nearly as well on, say, Salma Hayek.

And don’t be surprised if it winds up on a year-end “Best” list.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

That is my favourite Fashion blog ever and if you read through the comments, they all love her look.

I believe the fashion sphere is in love with her look. All saying that this is what they want, stars taking risks and making bold choices on the red carpet. I personally love it. She looks breath taking in some red carpet interviews. The make up (finally they got it right) and hair (it looks natural) are also on point.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I agree, it is very architectural; very art deco.

I can imagine Kidman in a Lubitsch style sophisticated comedy set in the 30s - playing a European aristocrat, or even better an actress impersonating an aristocrat - going around in costumes like this. That would be awesome! She could so easily fit into that Art Deco, cosmopolitan world.

I would rather a trip back to the mixed-up world of the 30s, than La La Land's 50's heteronormativity.

Re: SAG AWARDS - Red Carpet

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loved the dress. I understand though how the look can be love it or hate it. I love the intense, dazzling color against her pale skin. And the fit is amazing.

Lainey gossip's blog praising the gown

You guys. This is what Nicole Kidman was born to do. Since the days of the Olive/Chartreuse Gaultier she has worn bananas things that are also very excellent on the red carpet because that is exactly where you wear them. Put it this way, if you’re the designer of this dress, is there anywhere else you ever envisioned this dress going? Like if you were on Project Runway, and you had to make the story of the dress – this would be what it was. “Slightly eccentric red-carpet mainstay in third decade of fame wears it to an awards show where she will not win.” That’s the best possible outcome for this dress! You think it looks a little crazy, the shreds over the arms and the folds of the skirt implying that the birds actually fought over it a little bit? That’s not a bug, it’s a feature!

What do we get if she dress 1c84 es up ‘less’? Zero. Zero fun, zero dress porn, and no markers in the books of fashion – which are things they actually used to print!—of particularly notable outfits, which is half the reason we watch these things because otherwise they could just release the list of the winners online or something ridiculous. Like Natalie Portman, Kidman knows she’s not winning anything – so she just gets to have fun, and lets us have fun with her!

This is a joy in dark times. I’m not trying to be flip, I am dead serious. There are enough things happening that are terrible, that we should get our diversion and entertainment from a little whimsy in the form of a two-bird dress with a trail of sequins that I hope follows her all the way through every afterparty and the In-N-Out drive-thru to boot.
