Joe : Remake 'Joe'

Remake 'Joe'

I recently rented the 1970 film,"Joe" starring Peter Boyle and Susan Sarandon. Susan hasn't changed much since she played a left wing strung out junkie. They should remake this film for today since very little has changed.

Remake 'Joe'

Thats a great idea. Just change the far-right nuts of 1970 into the left-wing nuts of today.

"Just change the far-right nuts of 1970 into the left-wing nuts of today."

That's very, very funny!

Remake 'Joe'

I'd like to see a remake, maybe with Mickey Rooney.. he's still active and acting. He's older than Boyle was in 1970, of course, but it'd be worth the price of admission just to see the Mick let loose on some hippies, maybe even up the body count a bit..

Seriously though, a remake would be a bit odd nowadays, but maybe possible.. dunno. I'm not even sure who I'd cast.. Probably Peter Boyle again, hah. He could still nail it I bet.

Remake 'Joe'

Because there certainly aren't any right-wing nuts, you know, bombing buildings and killing people in this day and age.

Remake 'Joe'

I just had an idea while watching Mad Dog Morgan on t.v... Dennis Hopper as Joe. Eh? I think it'd work.. And even better, Dennis Hopper himself is a reformed hippie, which would make the ending even better and more poignant.. heh. I still want to see the body count at like 10, rather than the original half dozen or so.. maybe have them execute some passed-out, doped-up longhairs in the basement of the house or something after one of them wakes up.. that'd be gravy.

Let's merge two movies and make a sequel

Bill Compton Jr. (played by Jack Nicholson) approaches Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) and coaxes him out of "retirement" to dispose of [fill in the blank] for him.

He tells Bickle about his deceased father, and the man named Joe Curran who his father formed a bizarre alliance with thirty five years earlier.

Little does he suspect that Bickle's friend "Wizard" is Joe Curran, and has been hiding from the authorities under a new identity.

What!!! No Gravy???

Re: Let's merge two movies and make a sequel

Travis Bickle has parlayed his notoriety from 'The Rescue Of Iris' (His 1979 bestseller which recounted the 1976 incident that brought him into the public eye. The book was later turned into a successful 1983 film starring Eric Roberts as Bickle.)In present day Los Angeles, Travis Bickle is the much loved host of 'Crime Stoppers America', on which Bill Compton's son Network CEO Tyler Compton (Tim Robbins) faces an apologetic Dennis Curran (Law & Order's Christopher Meloni), a former NYC detective who has been retired after injuries incurred in the line of duty, and the son of his sister's killer Joe Curran. During the live broadcast of 'CSA' Tyler is discreetly informed that his teenaged daughter Stephanie (Anna Paquin) has vanished while on a school outing to Montreal. Can these three very different men save Stephanie from her captors? And what happens when signs point to the abducter being a criminal who has eluded capture, and has long been assumed dead? All three, especially Dennis are stunned when a grainy surveillance photo seems to indicate the captor is none other than Dennis' father...the fugitive Joe Curran !!?? Is Joe seeking vengance on the Compton family??? The answer is deadly!

Re: Let's merge two movies and make a sequel

that's a brilliant pitch

Republican Strategy?

Yes, tricks like that almost always seem to work.

Re: Republican Strategy?

Nice analysis, anurgetodefecate. For a long time in the movie, I thought Mr. Compton was putting Joe on, since he was afraid Joe would tattle on him. But as the movie went on, I saw that the two men got along and had more in common than I first thought.

The way to make the movie closer to reality is have the rich guy start shooting and getting them into deeper trouble. Then, after killing a few defenseless kids for no good reason, have the rich guy yell at the working class guy, "It's your ass Joe!" . Expecting him to finish the slaughter the rich guy started.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Remake 'Joe'

So, help me try to understand: are you nominating Susan for a SAG award, or just a "sag" award?

Re: Remake 'Joe'

How about Samuel L Jackson as Joe? I'd pay to see that.
