Rona Newton-John, the older sister of Olivia Newton-John, has lost her battle with brain cancer.

70-year old Rona was married to Grease star Jeff Conaway from 1980 to 1985. Jeff played Kenickie in Grease. He died in 2011. After her marriage to Jeff she married Brian Goldsmith. Chantoozies star Tottie Goldsmith is her daughter. Her son is racing car driver Emerson Newton-John.

“I want to thank everyone in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”

Rona had many acting roles including appearances on The Benny Hill Show and the British television series ‘Gerry Anderson’s UFO’.

In 1972 Olivia and Rona recorded the duet together ‘Just Us Two’.

Rona and Olivia’s grandfather is Max Born, the Nobel prize-winner.

Rona was diagnosed with brain cancer in last month, April 2013.

Re: R.I.P. Rona Newton-John

That is so very sad, and I do mean that. I saw Rona at an ONJ concert some years ago (period, 2003 - 2008) at the Kodak Theater in New York City. This was when I was "still a fan" of her sister. Even though we just chatted briefly, I was truly impressed with her - a charming, lovely and upbeat woman. What was really sad about Rona was that she always lived in her sister's shadow. She just never established a BIG career of her own, and just never became "a household name" like her famous sister. Notice how many times Olivia threw her older sister a bone, like giving her bit parts in several of her films. All this is said without any malice intended. This is simply the truth, but it's still very sad....

A career is important, but not your entire life. I hope Rona was happy with the rest of her life.

Re: R.I.P. Rona Newton-John

Sorry, but I think you took my comments the wrong way - the only "career highlights" I can think of are: Olivia gave her a bit role in two or three of her films, plus she was sorta a "semi-regular" on the old Benny Hill show, and that was decades ago. However, I do have the DVD of "Best of the Benny Hill Show" BUT I simply cannot figure out which one of the MANY nubile young blondes she is!! This DVD is verrrryyy lengthy....

What films did Olivia give Rona parts in? I can't remember them being in anything together.

Re: R.I.P. Rona Newton-John

RIP unless as I thought the name was some kind of Mad Magazine type hybrid-name spoof of Rona Barrett and Olivia Newton John.
