Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Pros
• 3 story house on top floor
• all set up
• own room
• nice area

Cons
• can't always pick what I want to eat and when
• no shower
• bath has no cold water which I use for my hair
• might not have much spending money left of SSI from the government ($200?) and you know how little things add up at Wal-Mart

I'm seriously considering moving Out West to Minnesota. I already found some promising situations. I need to know where I can practice violin.

It just gets better and better.

How much is Minnesota Supplemental Aid?
For individuals: $2,382/month in 2021 (300% of FBR for an individual) For eligible couples: $4,764/month in 2021 (600% of FBR for an individual)

Down South was nothing. Ohio has a $1100 program/total.

I’m not that familiar with this topic Christina, but that seems like it might be on the higher side of what you might qualify for. You’d have to know the total cost of everything. You also need to know what the rules are for that home, because they might not be better, or maybe even worse. You want to thoroughly investigate the neighborhood ahead of time, because it sounds like you’re not too pleased with where you’re living.

Monicah brings up a good point about structure though. That’s important, and you need it.

Also, coming from Florida, Minnesota might be a hard transition, especially in the winter time.

But if you do go there (And I would be more inclined to tell you to give this place a chance) there are 10k lakes, according to their license plates, and you can visit the Ingalls family homestead, in Walnut Grove Minnesota.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Good idea, if it's cheaper to stay in Ohio. The winter will be nice.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

You never know Christina. It might be in your best interest to look into Minnesota. But I’d give this place a shot first. But if you do decide to move again, make sure you do some thorough groundwork prior to moving. You don’t want to keep moving around all over the place, only to discover that you won’t be any happier at the new place.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Yea, if I move somewhere else I will take my time.

This place has nice things! Cool air place but summer now with lots of breezes.

Do you have a link that shows your number state by state?

I think the food thing is bothering me.

Yea, it's nice, but it seems nicer maybe in Minnesota. I wish I could go to college where I am now, where I used to go maybe 1/2 hour west.

I do like it, otherwise.

I know about the US.

I know the food isn't, like, my favorite.

I do have structure.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Can't you practice violin where you are? I guess there's nowhere sound proof in that house?

I wouldn't like to have to eat what, and when somebody else chose. That would piss me off, but I suppose you could buy some snacks and keep them in your room?

Maybe you need to create a budget for the money you have to spend. Not too much impulse buying.

I think you'll settle in and be happy there Christina, but if you choose to move again, I hope it'll work out for you.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Yes, they said I could practice violin, in my room or for them downstairs. Unfortunately, they could hear me downstairs, when I was playing in my room, on the 3rd floor.

We're not allowed to have snacks upstairs. The lady seemed upset and told me not to eat after 9:30 PM.

Yes, I can't do much.

Yea, it's okay, maybe the people are stressing me out. This area is mostly Black.

I'm sick of the choice of food. I need to find a perfect place before I decide to settle elsewhere. They're African and cook a meat, vegetable, and carbohydrate … and the spices are too heavy to eat that fast.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

You shouldn't be so ungrateful and complainy. Your next step is the institution. Let's see how much complaining you have to do about not having free money to blow on Amazon then.

Your parents should have sorted you out years ago and not let you get so bad off. If they had cracked down on your racist bs and personal habits years ago you could be semi-functional now instead of the huge mess that you are.

You posted pics of the garbage and filth you lived in while nobody gave a fuck to do anything to straighten you up, as much as that's even possible. There's a reason those people won't let you have food upstairs. They are going to be checking your room too and quite frankly they won't put up with your filthy ways for long.

You're going to have an impossible time there just like you will everywhere you go, because you aren't right in the head and that's been made even worse by people enabling you just because they didn't want to deal with you when there was still a chance.

All the people who enable your bad behavior on here and tell you that you can do this or that or telling you to pursue your retarded dreams are just making matters worse. It's shameful how these people on here encourage you to make an even bigger mess of yourself.

But i'm sure they mean well. And that's all that really matters.

Bad hair day, Goldie?

You have no right or standing to give anyone life advice because your life is messed up beyond repair. GTFO and STFU because everyone has seen your moldy basement man cave living quarters.

You're a real piece of work, dumbass.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

I said part time job. You can make a certain amount of money and still draw SSI. You have had part time jobs before, you know this. You seem to just want people to give you free money, free education, free housing, free meals, etc like you are somehow entitled to it. You aren't. You don't even have a physical disability. Time for you to wake up from this dream and face reality. Many people in your situation who are far worse off than you are have to take care of themselves. Instead, you just want free shit and to be able to play around learning violin, ballet, swimming, etc. That's all nonsense. None of these are skills that will enhance your life in any way.

You need to give up on these weird dreams thinking they will give you more money because your dad died and he was in the army. You are not your dad. Nothing he has done entitles you to more money. You are something like 40 years old, not a child. It's shameful that your dad didn't try to teach you ANYTHING, just shuffled you off to the garage out of his way so he didn't have to deal with you. You should already know this shit, but instead he gave you no skills whatsoever to deal with life after he was gone.

None of the weird faggots who enable you will tell you this shit, because the majority of them don't do anything with their life either. Or even support themselves like the functional adults they are supposed to be.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

You are certainly not pulling punches but your general theme is correct.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

Actually, this is me pulling punches…

She has been writing this same garbage for years, and everyone on here coddles her, ie enables her to continue the same cycle. Lilith is the only one who tries to speak any sense to her, which she flat out rejects and carries on with what seriously appears to be trolling. She invites criticism of her lifestyle by the very act of publicly posting about it every single day. She complained that her dad didn't give her his house when he died, which he was likely paying for or renting while providing her a place to practice her nonsense, enabling her to not even try at life because he had his own problems to deal with.

She needs a reality check. All she does is complain that others don't do enough for her, like she is entitled to whatever she wants without even trying to do anything for herself. This nonsense about her getting SSI cancelled if she works is particularly irritating, since it makes it seem like she could probably get a job, like a lot of "disabled" people do, and eek out a living on her own without taking handouts, but she doesn't want to do that.

Most people who work full time barely even get by in life, but here she is ordering 10 pairs of pants at a time and blowing every penny she gets (free money) on elaborate meals and complete junk, while bitching that it isn't enough.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

She needs that medication I keep talking about.

What you are seeing as "trolling" is how psychotic people talk, think, and how they make decisions.

Unless the person is a super advanced troll actor, this is a real schizophrenic person.

I had a young guy years ago who believed he ran MTV. He went to New York and tried to get into the offices because he couldn't figure out why he wasn't running the place.

He got in trouble another time because he thought this girl at the beach was his gf. So, he followed her home and slept on her front porch.

I had another guy who thought he was a ninja. All kinds of shit occurred.

I had a guy who wanted to kill the host of the Gong Show for not saying hi.

When Christina starts talking about Ellen being a criminal I am like—-holy fuck!

She needs better meds, a little job, and a better living situation. Reality Orientation, what you are doing, is the prime way to speak to these people, only a little nicer lol.

You can't be too nice though.

One MAJOR danger is that psychotic people aren't just "dreamers" but rather believers and they will act on their delusions thus causing very bad results at times. It's typically for themselves.

Yes, so that's how you went from being a convict to a mental illness professional, you just wanted it really bad and *poof* there you were!

Fucking idiot. Nobody believes a word you say. You don't even know how group homes work and think those people are legally obligated to allow you to do whatever the fuck you want while living there.

Sorry, no mental health professional would believe that's true. You're the biggest fucking idiot who ever posted here. Clueless bitch.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

This is the most sensible post I have seen from you.

Her meals are provided for her, at a certain time of day. She is bitching because she is used to being able to eat the food she wants whenever she wants. She likes Chinese food? By golly, the place should provide it to her on demand! The only thing stopping her from eating something else is that she has to go out and get it herself, it's not provided for her. Nor will they let her cook, or keep food in her room like her dad obviously did. That's just the way it is, she's in that house for a reason, and she knew the rules going in. There is nothing unreasonable about that. Yet people want to question why she can't keep snacks in her room or have a microwave and fridge. JFC.

Her major complaint is she wants to move somewhere where she thinks the state will give her more money to enable her lifestyle of nonsense, pay for her education, etc. In that case, she needs to get a job like the millions of other Americans in her situation that have jobs, get her own place, etc.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

That's moronic, as usual.

You can have snacks in a hotel room.

They have things called GARBAGE CANS in hotel rooms They also have confidence that retards aren't staying in hotel rooms and will throw things away. They also have CLEANING STAFF to clean hotel rooms.

They have that in group homes.

They are announcing "You are a retard" in her group home so you will eat what we give you and you aren't allowed to need a snack in your room because retards don't get that. Meanwhile hundreds of millions of Americans have chips and stuff in their couch.

It's obvious what the situation is.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

It is and the same thing goes for any other living arrangement.

SHE IS PAYNG TO LIVE THERE.

The money is hers and you do not treat people on disability like they're "lucky to have it" and so on. They deserve it and are PAYING the group home THEIR MONEY to live in the place.

The people that own the group home don't have therapy degrees and have no right to treat people in any other way but equal.

Getting treated like trash and like an idiot results in negative behavior from the people that live there.

Re: Pros & Cons of Living in This Group Home in Ohio

My parents never allowed me to have snacks or any kind of food in my room when I was young. To this day it is a practice I uphold in my own house. As a result, I don't have bugs and rats and such crawling around, and my bedroom looks like a bedroom, not a disaster area.

Christina posted various pictures of her room on filmboards, and it was a literal garbage dump. I cringe anytime I see mentally ill people living in these conditions because there is no excuse for it. For this, I truly do blame the parents for allowing her to develop that lifestyle.
