Wolf Creek : Padded with filler.

Padded with filler.

The first 12 minutes of the movie, up to the end of the credits, absolutely nothing happens that we need to see. It in no way informs the rest of the story except that we find out these two girls are traveling cross-country with this guy - which we'd gather anyway from the scenes that followed; and that he bought the car used - which has no bearing on the story.

Then there's the extended amount of time Liz spends checking the place out while Kristy is waiting. Purposeless filler.

The movie should be a good 15 minutes shorter.

Re: Padded with filler.

If not half an hour shorter.

I just watched this film again tonight on tv, and it's been awhile. For some reason, the first half seemed a lot slower than I remembered. I realised that (with adverts) it took an hour before anything horror starts to happen....the scene of her waking up hits half way through the film.

I understand the need for build up, and I definitely like to get to know characters to get some kind of interest...but 50% of the film being build up seems a bit excessive. I don't remember noticing it the first time I watched it though, maybe it just suffers on the rewatch.

I still like the film though LOL

~ I hardly looked at his face. His knees were what I wished to see. ~

Yea I'm
Watching the film now and I'm already thinking "so it's one of those Movies. Where they are clearly familiarizing the viewer with the group of friends- so later the torture will be more effective". This seems a bit over the top though

Re: Padded with filler.

Definitely. It can be an issue, specifically with horror films. The movie could've probably been 20 minutes shorter. And I even noticed some rediculous jumps - like kristys (I think) travel from the cliff back to his house. Seemed like a solid hike.

Anyway, the film was "better" than I thought it would be. Interesting cinematography.
