Outer Limits movie in the works

MGM is apparently planning a motion picture version of The Outer Limits, featuring a reboot of "Demon with a Glass Hand".

BTW:
A related Variety article (while crediting The Hollywood Reporter for first reporting the current news) also reminds us that the "long-stalled" project was originally revealed back in 2010 (at which time MGM had hired other writers):

For historical interest only, here's an old article from 2010:

Four years after the movie project was first revealed, we have the significant updated news that you've noted. Derrickson & Cargill's "Demon..." adaptation sounds promising. Thanks for posting the news.

Re: Outer Limits movie in the works

The main problem in adapting DEMON WITH THE GLASS HAND, is that it would be "considered" a remake of BLADE RUNNER, which was a retelling of DEMON.

Ellison threatened a lawsuit which they settled out of court.

However, I would be interested in seeing it, especially if Ellison writes the script.

Re: Outer Limits movie in the works

ELISON sued James Cameron because Terminator was too similar to DEMON-says so at the end of Terminator 1 (thanks to Harlan Ellison")

Re: Outer Limits movie in the works

Was never sure of the exact outcome, but was heard that they later "settled"

Re: Outer Limits movie in the works

"ELISON sued ... because Terminator was too similar to DEMON ..."
Some sources say the mentioned dispute was apparently about another
Ellison-written episode script, Soldier (1964).

BTW, some viewers also see possible similarities between some
elements of The Terminator films and another Outer Limits episode,
The Man Who Was Never Born (1963) written by Anthony Lawrence.

Re: Outer Limits movie in the works…

They SHOULD base it on the episode "O.B.I.T."!

"THAT'S SOME BAD SHIT, HARRY!".
