Original Mouseketeer Bonni Lou Kern dies at 79: "You will be missed by…

all".

Bonni Lou Kern, an original Mouseketeer on "The Mickey Mouse Club," has died.

Disney historian and author Lorraine Santoli confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY Thursday that Kern died from natural causes in Wooster, Ohio on Monday.

She was 79.

Kern appeared as a Mouseketeer from 1955 to 1956 and even had an episode named after her: "Save Bonni Lou Kern!".

Lou Kern was born in Alhambra, California in 1941, according to her online obituary from Roberts Funeral Home. She married Harold "Bud" Carr in Hawaii in the late 1960s.

The couple shared three daughters: Kimberly, Allyson and Janet.

She's also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lou Kern's daughter Allyson shared a tribute on Facebook, writing, "(Love) You Mom. You will be missed by All.".

Chasen Hampton, who was a Mouseketeer on "The All-New Mickey Mouse Club" revival alongside Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake, honored his predecessor on Twitter.

"Paying respect this morning to one of our MMC older sisters. #BonniLouKern from the Original 50’s #MickeyMouseClub has passed away. She was an incredible talent and will be missed greatly by her fans and #Disney family.".

That’s too bad. I used to watch this show as a kid, and remember Bonnie. I believe she was on the blue team (The lesser featured team). It was the red team that you saw in the opening credits for the roll call, and the more prominently feature team. Johnny Crawford of Rifleman fame, as well as Paul Peterson of the Donna Reed show, were also short time Mousketeers.

I was also pretty bummed when I heard that Cheryl Holdridge had passed away. She was always my favorite. May they both rest in peace.

They call her an original Mouseketeer (as they do some others), but who was the original original Mouseketeer. The first one they actually called and/or hired for the job?

I tried looking it up, and the best that I could come up with was:

Who was the first Mouseketeer?

Karen Pendleton.
Along with Annette Funicello and others, she was in the cast of “The Mickey Mouse Club” from its debut in 1955.

No prob. But it wasn’t really a definitive answer.

Dang. It looks like little Karen passed on as well.
