Economics, Business, Money, Finance : Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
sometimes the average jane or joe schlub hits it right and scores bigtime. you can prob count that on 2 hands. and there's no science to timing the market;the foreclosure lawyers are fat and happy thanks to retards who leverage their homes to play a market hunch and that hunch dies.
since overwhelmingly the price movement in most-if not all- stocks is fractionally tiny compared to price, these average "investors" will see miniscule gains. the only way outside of being super lucky as above, id to hold large numbers of shares: this way the law of large numbers will help you on the upside. several thousand shares or more! up a mere $2 is nice; the same at 100 or less will barely cover the cable bill. but since the average person cant even come close to holding such numbers, it aint gonna pay off.
best to put your disposable investment capital in for the long haul and diversify what you hold and the risk involved. disposable in the meaning that you can afford to take that investment cash, light it on fire, let it burn to ashes, and not have a worry at all. If not, then think cautiously about proceeding.
and always know that 99% of the time when you buy the party on the other side of that equation is an institutional player and a prudent question to ask is: why are you selling at this time?
Nota bene: the goober steve lake was all man-pussy gushing over in the gamestock/reddit contretemps–"roaring kitty" on youtube, deep fucking value(dfv) on reddit– is now the proud owner of a class-action lawsuit against him. that'll probs go away?? but his REAL nightmare is that both the SEC and state regulators are looking at him very closely. it appears he's in posession of one Series-7 licence and as such he's absolutely prohibited from pimping&pumping any securities outside of of a professional relationship, which reddit/youtube is decidedly not.
However, he's still bullishly long on gamestock, blackberry, and other graveyard bound companies because "the fundamentals" are undervalued.

hi Gangster! :)
suck it.
suck it.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
You have a lot of zingers here, I don’t even know where to start
I think I put myself in the conservative, long haul investment camp. A big chunk of my money are in S&P companies, ETFs/Mutual Funds over individual stocks, etc. Thankfully, I only lost a fraction of my capital gains and nothing on the principal itself.
100% agreed on the disposable aspect of it. Never invest in something you can’t pay for twice! And diversify like hell. Only 5% of my assets are in the most volatile markets (mostly cryptos which I thankfully profited off of overall lol)
Lmfaoooooo!!! I got tf out of blackberry. While I appreciate the fight against the short sellers, those companies are probably valued exactly where they need to be

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
good time to buy
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
True, but I honestly am not far off from when I first started investing… hesitant to put more money in atp so I’ll have to cool off for now
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
I bought a few shares of NIO. It’s a Tesla rival mainly in China. Between the large Asian population and the market in the US plus the anticipated boom in electric vehicles I have a good feeling about it.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
I have a lil NIO that’s in the negative right now… hoping the same 🤞
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
It takes time.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
What about today?
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Much better. It’s like two steps back, one step forward. It’s funny that my retirement account is doing way better (all in a Fidelity MMF)
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
My meme stocks did good today.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
They did, esp Doge thanks to that asshole Elon. I collected my profits from Doge after he said he wouldn’t seriously consider it. Now he says Doge to the moon. He’s lucky the SEC doesn’t sanction cryptos
I’m out of BTC too. All in Ethereum now 🥳🥳🥳

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
I closed my Robinhood account so I don't have a way to do cryptos now. Not that I had any in the first place
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Fair enuff
I’m invested in one meme non-crypto stock called ZOM… it’s expected to skyrocket by end of March

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
ZOM… it’s expected to skyrocket by end of MarchWhy is that, Rouge?
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
No other reason except it’s Reddit’s next target (if rumors are to be believed lol)
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Oh, I see. I just checked, and it traded over 65 million shares today… that's a helluva lot for a $2 stock, lol. Yeah, I might pick up a few shares, just for grins.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Let’s take this ride together!!! May the odds be in our favor 🙂🙂🙂
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Inflation plays might be the next trend. Commodities: oil, metals, lumber, etc. Most of those have their own ETFs devoted to them. I recently took a small stake in the copper ETF (CPER) and so far, it's doing well.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Oooh, it didn’t occur to me you can actually invest in commodities. Will need to look into it.
I heard copper products are increasing due to the world’s new interest in antimicrobial products (copper infused bed sheets for example)

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
CPER is a really good way to play the rise in copper. Also, some places are now selling 1-ounce copper bullion coins. Seems a bit comical now, but if copper really explodes higher, you could be laughing all the way to the bank.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Reality is stranger than fiction atp! You never know
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Where is Steve Lake when you need him?
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Did he know he once punched a man out of his shoes in the middle of Times Square? Then everybody clapped
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
The guy fucking sucks.
Either he is serious about what he says, and then he isn't funny and is a moron. Or he isn't serious, but the joke or the troll isn't funny either, really weak sauce, so who the fuck cares and he sucks that way too. Same results.

Americans can be some of the most and least direct people you’ll ever meet… I ❤️ it though lol

No need to apologize… the only person who would disagree is the spud himself
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Lol, I actually wasn't apologizing, it was a verbal tic of a signifier basically saying 'this here is the truth'.
IRL I found his stock advice here quite reckless.
You know what - buy a place in a neighborhood in which homes won't likely depreciate, add value to it, and sell when the market is hot. Best and simplest advice ever.

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
I figured… make no mistake, nobody on the Soapbox like(s/d) him
I think I read something from you about having rental income? Tough space to be in but very long term and solid! My PIL gifted my husband and I our house and it was a fuqqin mess with issues from floor to ceiling. But with some TLC, we increased its value by 30% and rising

Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
The difference between that and the stock market is the difference between honest work and going to the casino…..you can understand and to some degree control the value you add to something.
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Yep, anyone can sit on their fat ass and gamble on stocks lol
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
Lol
Re: Oof the stock market was not pretty today
It's a house. You don't need TLC to make the price go up by a silly amount. I've only made minor improvements and some parts of it got worse but zillow says I'm up 30% too.
