Under Siege : No way are civilians allowed aboard Navy ships like that…

No way are civilians allowed aboard Navy ships like that…

at least that's what guys in the real Navy have told me. Guess not one of the movie's finer points.

If I remember correctly, it was Krill who gave the permission. Ship´s captain bashes Krill about it. Krill tells him that it was admiral´s idea.

"Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs..."

Civilians come on USN ships all the time. Ever see Wheel of Fortune on a carrier? Yup it happened. Ever see Fox NFL Sunday on a carrier? Yup it happened. WWE wrestlers, NFL Cheerleaders, Famous Movie-stars, Big-time Comedians and even Playboy Bunny's have been to sea with me in my travels. Not so famous people come out too....all the time. We do these things called 'Tiger Cruises'. Typically they happen at the tail end of a deployment. As the prospective ship gets within a day or two of home port families can be flown out or boarded by other ways and they ride the rest of the way back. One cruise I did we had 200 civilian family member along for the ride the last day out. Civilian contractors and tech reps come out all the time too. News crews occasionally get to come out too.

You're taking a dump and they call GQ do you pinch it off or finish your business?

It's true. I was once detached to HMS Somerset (British Navy), and we were in port in Jeddah, KSA. We had a booze up on board, and many 'important' folk... like from the Embassies came along for drinks and nibbles
