It's called net metering. The power company gives you credit for the excess power you send back to the grid to offset what you use at night. I make more than I use 10 or 11 months out of the year so the bill is effectively $0 except for the $10 connection fee. And since I'm stuck with the #1 most expensive provider in the country it was an easy decision.

Before you go off on time braindead rant about renewables being the cause of it I can tell you that's not the case at all. It's just a ****ty company that passes the cost of all their failures onto the customers. Faulty equipment that catches fire and burns down a bunch of homes? Raise your rates to pay for it. Install a faulty nuclear reactor that needs to be shut down and demolish the power plant? Raise prices some more because **** it, why not?

I grow a few herbs in the backyard which saves me basically nothing but I just like the way the way fresh ones taste compared to the dried stuff in a bottle. My biggest expense is for housing just like almost everyone else's. If groceries cost an extra $40 a month and everything else increases by a combined $100 or whatever it's nothing still nothing significant compared to my overall mortgage cost or someone else's rent.

And no, the housing isn't a Biden thing either. It's been a problem long before he took office and will continue to be long after he's gone. There just isn't enough of it. It's one of those special issues where liberals and conservatives teamed up for a perfect **** storm. Liberals made the environmental rules easy to abuse so that old conservatives can delay almost any housing development indefinitely for stupid insincere reasons.

Despite all the bullshit headlines trying to invent a crisis there were more EVs sold last year than the year before and it's going to continue going that way. There's a reason why there requirements all take at least a decade to phase in. That gives plenty of time for manufacturers to catch up and public stations to be built. If the American companies don't then the foreign ones will. In the meantime lots of ICEs will still be on the road and used ones will be available for a long time for anyone who wants them.

EVs are going way out of favor. This year's sales probably won't match last year's. I'm surprised you aren't aware of this downturn. People are finding out how lacking things are where infrastructure is concerned. Hybrids are doing okay, so it remains to be seen how well they'll do.

Increased prices in everything are indeed due to his administration's policies. Existing housing prices and rent goes up because owners and landlords are forced to raise their prices due to their living costs going up – food, gas, home essentials, and everything else. New home prices are affected due to rising materials and labor costs. Sure, housing prices commonly rise over time, but they've been affected more since Biden.
