Chris Rock : Most disrespectful host ever…

Most disrespectful host ever…

His entire opening monologue was focused on one thing, the white mans a racist devil, instead of what the Oscars are about which is celebrating, and satireing, the years prestigious movies and the people that made them. Everyone he got on stage that's all he talked about.

The worst part was those street interviews where he completely disrespected the nominated movie by having people say they've never even heard of them. Wtf was he doing???

I seriously felt like I just watched a black pride rally with awards given in between.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

maybe try looking at the world through a perspective other than your own for once in your life

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

Really what he was trying to say was...

#GIRLSCOUTCOOKIESMATTER

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

well the bad part is that someone wrote all that schtick for him lol

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

And then selling Girl Scout cookies during the live show - Disgraceful.

Do not miss watching Academy Awards Shows at all.

It wasn't disgraceful, it was derivative. Didn't Ellen or somebody order pizza and distribute it live at the Oscars a couple of years ago?

Those gags never really work for the audience at home. But we tend to be less hungry than the folks in the L.A. theatre who had to be sewn into their gowns.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…??

Disrespectful of whom?

Even Chris said last night that "not everything is sexism/racism".

Scroll back over Rock's IMDb page. It's full of threads and posts by black people calling Chris "a traitor" because he "downs black people too much."

So your outrage is theirs. Only in reverse. And yet not.

The truth is often in the middle, and that's what Rock tries to address on a regular basis -- for anyone actually paying attention.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…??

My point was that he took the spotlight of the people who were nominated, which was the reason they were there, and instead used the opportunity to bring up this racism bs and nearly completely take the night away for these people to celebrate their achievements and recognition.

This was the worst Oscars on history imo, and not because Chris was the worst host, but because it just didn't feel like the Oscars.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…??

Really? After all the controversy you really thought he was going to ignore all that. He had to address it and he did a good job. Chris is a comedian first and I knew what was coming. My complaint is that it went on too long. He should have stopped talking about the diversity issue once he did the monologue.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

Regarding the interviews - come on think about it for a minute. Academy Awards CONSTANTLY whine every year about how they aren't getting certain demographics watching their shows. That's why they put Hathaway and Franco center stage one year- to try to get the "cool", "young" demographic.

Rock was basically pointing out to them, that they will never be able to chase certain audiences because there is a big difference between what they nominate and what people watch. Rock did it through the prism of black audiences, but other audiences work just the same.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

If these things were given out based on the average viewer, Twilight would have won best picture. Leave that crap for the people's choice awards/mtv awards/nickelodeon kid's choice awards, etc. Should Straight Outta Compton have been nominated? Most likely, but it doesn't take away from the movies/actors/actresses who were nominated and won.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

Was there a white girl in that GIRL SCOUT TROOP?

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

He made everything about black people...Where was the Chinese rep who could come out and talk about no Chinese actors being nominated? What a joke. Black lives matter, yeah so does everyone else's lives.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

Frankly, I'd rather have biting satire on anything, be it lack of diversity or whatever, than the goopy, back-slapping mush of Hollywood blowing itself.

I think lack of diversity is an important issue, and the producers were obviously on board with Chris Rock taking that angle. Why not seize the opportunity of a global platform to address something that a lot of white people would never even have realized until 1908 black people pointed it out to them.

Re: Most disrespectful host ever…

I thought the funniest part is having all black girl scouts going out and asking predominately white people for handouts.
