Lydia Lunch : Lydia Lunch, jesus!

Lydia Lunch, jesus!

Lydia Lunch is stunning. The music she did with Teenage Jesus and the Jerks is stunning, in a no-wave DIY *beep* kinda way. Her spoken word... well maybe stunning is not the right word at all,is like having your headache sledgehammered, and then not having a headache anymore.

Okay, so perhaps it is ill advised to play on your stereo in the morning. 7:45am and Lydia Lunch aren't a good combination, unless of course you want to encourage or induce an anger which requires taking a machine gun to all the *beep* at your college/workplace etc etc. I don't fortunately... and you know... I think there's humanity under it all.

Nevertheless, she kicks ass, and I wish more women kicked ass like she did. I'm fed up of sweaty hairy men doing it all the time. I want sweaty hairy women!

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

i agree. she's amazing and doesn't get nearly enough credit for what she's done for women in rock and music in general. her spoken word stuff is pretty heavy, but it's interesting. 13.13 is probably her best album though. such a shame it's out of print!

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

Surely ebay would have it?

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

I've heard a few of her albums, flipped through one of her poetry books, and seen the movies she did with Richard Kern, and frankly, I don't get what anyone sees in her (besides the T&A). Just another talentless broad with a chip on her shoulder using sex appeal (and by that I don't mean her face) to sell mediocre crap that would never sell on its own merits.

Did you hear her album Queen of Siam? Her vocals on that are so bad that it's almost laughable; you'd think it was a comedy ske 2000 tch or something. But it's no joke; she really *is* that untalented.

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

Yeah, she's amazing! She gave blowjobs on mainstream film before Chloe Sevigny!
Art in its truest form!

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

None of her films are mainstream, unless the definition of mainstream changed when I wasn't looking.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

Re: Lydia Lunch, jesus!

The definitions of many things have changed–a "cult film" now refers to anything and everything that's in anyway popular. "Mainstream" is now simply "not porn" and "convenience" now means "To spend once entire existence playing frustrating mind-games with computers."

On the topic of LL–I put her in the same category as Harlen Ellison; I admire them through their work, but would probably want to kill them if I met them in person.
