William Powell : Just re-discovered William Powell

Just re-discovered William Powell

My 15 year old daughter, who is an old movie buff borrowed The Thin Man series from her history teacher two weeks ago. I have only seen the first two Thin Man movies but I remember loving the chemistry between William Powell and Myrna Loy. With in two days we watched all six movies. Watching these movies made me fall in love with them all over again and at the end of our marathon my daughter commented "Wow, they don't make movies like that anymore! I wish they would." I couldn't agree more. Need less to say we are big fans of Powell and Loy now.

Since then we have watched Libeled Lady, I Love You Again, My Man Godfrey, and Mister Roberts. Great performances all, William Powell was truly one of the greatest actors not only of his time but of all time.

He was so good in "How to Marry a Millionaire"! Such a great movie! :)

Ellery Queen (Jim Hutton) = sexiest man ever!

Re: Just re-discovered William Powell

I love his movies with Kay Francis and Carole Lombard. His movies from around 1928-1934 were the best in my opinion. I adore him in most of those, in particular, Double Harness (1933), Man of the World (1931) and For the Defense (1930, I believe) The last one is one of my favorite movies of his EVER!!

I agree, I have seen the movies you mentioned since my last posting and I love them too. He and Kay Francis had a great chemistry together, I loved watching them in One Way Passage and Jewel Robbery. I think 1936 was a great year for him too, My Man Godfrey, After The Thin Man, The Great Ziegfeld and Libeled Lady were all great movies and really showed his incredible talent.
